Description

You’ll join Beth Gilhespy, conservationist and long time Bruce Trail supporter for the launch of her book, “Walking Through Time – Exploring Niagara Escarpment Geology in the Beaver  Valley Bruce  Trail Section”.  Chat with Beth and mingle with other hikers and geology lovers before you head out on a guided hike south to Hilt’s Falls, with commentary by Beth along the way.  Books will be available for sale with the added bonus of a signed copy to treasure.

COVID-19 Precautions Before, During and After your Hike

  1. Each hiker joining a Bruce Trail Club organized hike must perform a self-screening check before hiking.

  2. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, stay home.
  3. Personal Protective Equipment:
    • Hikers may choose to wear masks.
  4. Wear sturdy footwear and appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain.
    Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery.
    Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
  5. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
  6. Bring sufficient water and snacks (or lunch if indicated). A minimum of 1L of water is recommended.
  7. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent (for spring and summer hikes).
  8. Bring your own first aid kit.
  9. Please leave dogs at home.

Length of Hike: 9 km

Description

This is a popular loop hike taking in Metcalfe Rock, Duncan Crevices, Pinnacle Rock and Mill Creek.  The leaves should be popping!  Be prepared for some mud on the trail and bring snacks and water.

It is the Bruce Trail Conservancy’s current policy that car shuttles are allowed.  It is at the discrepancy of individual hike leaders to make that decision.

  1. Arrive 15 minutes before the start of the hike.
  2. Wear sturdy footwear and appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain.
    Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate.
    Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
  3. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
  4. Bring sufficient water and snacks (or lunch if indicated). A minimum of 1L of water is recommended on all hikes, and 3L is recommended for long, challenging hikes in the heat of the summer.
  5. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent (for spring and summer hikes).

Description

This is a loop hike which heads west on the Valley Crossover Side Trail from the Beaver Valley Ski Club, south to walk down Graham’s Hill Road then back north on Lower Valley Rd to the parking lot.  A good workout with some walking on forest sided rural roads.

Description

We will hike up the mountain in the forested area between Craigleith ski club and Blue Mountain ski area, after our ascent we will join the Bruce Trail with some lovely views to Georgian Bay. We will continue along the Bruce Trail to a scenic look out and then return through a forest path between Craigleith and Alpine ski clubs.
