Meet at Princess Point just beyond the intersection of Macklin Street N and Longwood Rd N in Hamilton. This is RBG property so parking fees (you can pay by the hour) or RBG parking pass required. We will hike the south shore trails of Cootes Paradise, including Sassafras Point, to McMaster University and return. A mixture of woods and fields with some hills and poor footing. From Orangeville, take Hwy #10 north, turning right onto 25 Sideroad, and then left onto 2nd Line EHS: the parking lot is about 1.3 km along on the right side of 2nd Line EHS. We will explore the beautiful Splitrock Narrows Nature Reserve, and then loop into Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, using mostly side trails: Splitrock and Narrows side trails, plus Ralph Tremils, Walter Tovell, Spillway, Carriage, and Lookout side trails, plus about 2 km of main trail. Getting from Splitrock Narrows to Mono Cliffs and back requires 0.9 km of road (times 2), but at least it is pleasant country road. Come out to join us for a hike to Sherman Falls on the newly re-opened main route. We will hike there and back, incorporating the Canterbury Falls side trail on the way back. Meet in the last parking lot of the Dundas Valley Conservation on Governor’s Rd. just west of Dundas. Bring a lunch/snack, and water. This hike is open to BTC members only and you must preregister. Once registered you will receive a confirmation with items to bring and Covid guidelines. Parking fee in effect or a Conservation area pass.
