Learn about using a two-eyed seeing approach to understanding and protecting nature, as you hike the Bruce Trail with Caley Doran, Indigenous Trail Guide and Layna Lubimiv, Chief Park Naturalist, MacGregor Point. During your hike, you will also participate in a community science project – picking up and sorting litter found along the trail and submitting litter data to the Bruce Trail Conservancy. Finish the hike by joining us for a group conversation about your experience and talk about what you have learned. This is a moderately paced hike covering rocky and rooty terrain with some short, steep climbs. Please bring water, light snacks and lunch. Wear sturdy footwear, hat and sun protective clothing. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and garden gloves.Parking registration is required for everyone. This will be a shuttle hike.From the parking area on 15/16 Sideroad we will shuttle to the start of the hike on 9/10 Sideroad. We will hike the main trail;( the first part of this trail is part of the Transcarioca Bruce Trail Friendship Trail.) We will hike back into Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area and loop through the Conservation area using the main trail, Nottawasaga Lookout Side Trail, Keyhole Side Trail (this is a unique feature as we will be crawling through a hole in the rock wall), Betty Carter Side Trail and Hamilton Brothers Side Trail; a total of about 14 km. It is possible to shorten this hike, or for hikers to drop out of the hike, by eliminating a loop or side trail.
Bring water/beverage of choice, snacks, poles (optional) sunscreen, sun hat.

We will start with a car shuttle to the parking area at the north end of the townline where the road veers west (km 55.2). From here we will start our hike south along the main trail to the River Kwai Side Trail, then follow the side trail back to the cars. From the end point some of us will shuttle the drivers back to the starting point. The trail is rocky with crevices along the escarpment edge. There are some beautiful lookouts from the escarpment edge. The trail continues to be rocky as we hike south but eventually we end up in hardwood forest then an old apple orchard.. We can expect to see examples of two rare ferns – hart’s tongue fern and walking fern. Bring sunscreen, bug repellant, a lunch or snack and lots of water. 1-Hikers must stay between the leader and the sweep.
2-Hikers must advise the leader or the sweep if they wish to leave the group.
3- Hikers must follow the whistle instructions: 1 blast- stay where you are; 2 blasts come to the leader; 3 blasts – come to the leader quickly.
4-Hike leader may request volunteers to stop at trail intersections, they need to help hikers to the direction the group walk and wait till they see the sweep .
5-Hikers have to make sure they can see the persons behind and in front of them.

Join us for a lovely hike through Nassagaweya Canyon, a pre-glacial valley created by rivers carving through sedimentary rock on the Niagara Escarpment. We will start around Appleby Line and Steeles Avenue and then venture down into the canyon. We will do a loop around Crawford Lake along the boardwalk and discuss its special properties in science as a meromictic lake. We will then head further down through the Crawford Forestry Tract where our hike will end at Twiss Road.Required: hiking boots. Please bring 2 L of water.
Drop out at Guelph line at about 10 km. Depending on the weather conditions and participants, we may either end the hike here or continue on to Twiss road.
