Description
This Tuesday Hikers' hike has two parts.
First, we will follow the ruggedly beautiful section of the main Bruce Trail adjacent to "Rock Hill Park", where the wildly popular "Freak Out" concerts were held in the 1960s and 70s. We will hear the story of legendary local entrepreneur Elwood Hill, who brought in top music stars like Charley Pride, Shania Twain, and Stompin' Tom to entertain crowds of over 10,000 people; the allegations of drugs, noise, and nudity at the concerts; and Elwood's defiant clashes with the police and local authorities.
For part two of the hike, we will loop east along the Trail to the Enchanted Forest Side Trail, the lovely Oliver Creek Side Trail, and the environmentally sensitive Moss Haven Side Trail.
