Description
LOCATION CHANGE to Caledon Trail.
September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, is a time for reflection, learning, and remembrance. It invites all Canadians to confront the legacy of residential schools and engage in meaningful conversations about reconciliation.
Let's join together for a hike as we share and learn from each other about reconciliation and discuss the book 'Braiding Sweatgrass' by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
We will meet at 9:45 AM in pavilion behind the Caledon East Community Centre/library. There is plenty of parking and restrooms at the centre. Our hike will be northbound towards a common turtle nesting spot.
For those interested the Town of Caledon (city hall is beside the trail) is hosting events and a flag raising at 230pm: https://www.caledon.ca/en/living-here/resources/Documents/Indigenous-Engagement/National-Day-for-Truth-and-_Reconciliation-Poster.pdf
Wear your orange shirt if you have one, and if you don't and wish to get one, I suggest: https://orangeshirtday.org/merchandise/
