Description
We are pleased to have "Barefoot Brian" guide us on this mushroom hunting adventure. Brian is a naturalist and Beaver Valley resident who discovered his passion for foraging in 2013. Since 2015, he has been hosting hosting foraging and health-focused workshops, helping people reconnect with the land and the abundance around them. Brian believes that connecting people with the land through foraging and learning about native flora and fauna is one of the best ways to inspire conservation of the places we love. On this walk, we’ll explore the forest in search of mushrooms, learning how to identify and appreciate the fungi we encounter along the way. This will be a slow, casual and beginner-friendly walk, suitable for most people. No previous mushroom knowledge is required, just curiosity and a willingness to explore! Please arrive at 9:15 so we can gather and get started by 9:30 a.m. Bring water and a snack and dress prepared for the weather. Unless it's heavy rain, we'll proceed with the hike. You'll be notified if we have to cancel. We will have a person photograph mushrooms along the way for those interested in collecting photos to earn the Beaver Valley "Mushroom Hunter" badge. Those photos can be emailed to folks. Let's hope we find the magic number of 20 mushrooms. All particpants will receive the Passport to nature stickers. If you have any questions about this outing, please contact the hike leader, Glenda, using the "Contact the Hike Leader" option in the hike posting.
