Description
The Sturgeon Moon hike is the ninth full moon of 2026. The full moon is 12:30 am on Aug 28th, so we will see almost peak – PLUS the partial Lunar Eclipse starts around 9:30 pm Aug 27.
This is the third urban Oakville hike and this time we'll be walking through Coronation Park along the lake, toward Bronte Harbour, we'll walk the break water at the marina and then head back along the lake to our cars. The views of the lake and Moon should be excellent if we get a clear night.
We will meet at Coronation Park in Oakville the smaller farthest east parking lot – across from the water filtration plant. The lot is next to the Canoe / Kayak launch (follow the GPS coordinates). DO NOT park in the Main lot. I will have my tailgate up on my white Nissan Qashqai.
Please plan to arrive by 8:45 pm so we can get everyone registered and head out at 9:00 pm.
Be sure to dress for the weather, bring 1.5 L of water, bug spray and poles if you use them. Also headlamp or flashlight. You can leave them off and use them when needed.
