Description
Welcome to the 5th Sydenham Hiking Book Club event - Books & Blazes.
Did you know that trees communicate and share resources through underground fungal networks? You can learn about our forest ecosystems and how we can support them by reading this month's book, "When the Forest Breathes: Renewal and Resilience in the Natural World" by Suzanne Simard.
Our hike will include the main trail and some of the side trails in the beautiful Silent Valley Nature Reserve. We will chat about the book as we hike and during short stops along the way. You are welcome to join us even if you haven't read the book.
Please bring a snack and water. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Always carry any personal medications and your health card while hiking. It is not necessary to bring the book.
Our next Books & Blazes hike will be on Sunday, January 24th at 1 p.m. Our book is "The Snow Child", by Eowyn Ivey.
