    Description

    We will hike on the main trail from Tawse Winery to the Margaret Reed Side Trail located in Cave Springs Conservation Area and return back to Tawse Winery by 11:30. Upon return we will enjoy a private structured tasting led by one of the knowledgeable and friendly winery staff from 11:30 to 12:00 noon. The cost for the tasting experience is $15.00 per person. You will also enjoy a 20% discount on bottle purchases that day. Please bring your $15.00 with you as I will collect it prior to the tasting to simplify the payment to Tawse Winery. Thank you.

    Description

    We will walk in and around Thorold which has undergone a restoration of many historic buildings in the downtown.  We will walk along the Bruce Trail, visit Keefer Mansion (formerly Maplehurst Hospital) and walk past many historic homes and buildings.  There are several murals in Thorold which we will walk by.  We will also stroll through the Battle of Beaverdams Park which contains historical plaques, artifacts and monuments.  At the conclusion of the hike, for those who wish there will be a stop at Donnelly’s Pub which has been rated by Trip Advisor as 4.2 out of 5.

    Description

    Thank you for registering for Niagara’s annual self lead End to End in THREE Days.   2025 is a “New Badge”.

    You will hike from Grimsby and finish at the Queenston Cairn, the southern tip of the Bruce Trail.

    Checkpoint stations will be approximately every 10km, offering nutritious snacks and water refills. You will be provided with checkpoint coordinates Day 1 of the hike.

    Trail Angels are available for assistance. A list of Trail Angels and their contact information will be provided Day 1 of the hike. Please inform hike leader, or checkpoint station volunteers your intention to drop out.

    School buses will transport all hikers each day to the starting point of the hike. No parking fees for May 17, 18. Parking vouchers provided for May 19 ** Please arrive each day by 6.30am to ensure an early start. Buses will leave at 7 am, promptly**

    Hiking experience recommended. We would recommend hiking attire for the weather.and poles. Bring  cell phone, basic first aid supplies, bug spray, water bottle.

    Fee: includes bus, checkpoints, light lunch at the Cairn, the last hike day and your “new Badge”

    Enjoy your hike through southern most section of Niagara Bruce Trail.

    Proceeds support Niagara Bruce Trail Club which in turn supports the Bruce Trail Conservancy mission to ” Preserving a ribbon of wilderness for everyone, forever”.

    Walk along shaded paths in Victoria Lawn cemetery, stopping at a number of historic grave sites of notable residents of St Catharines, and then continue along the canal before heading back. It will be mostly paved but be prepared for some grassy areas. Bring water and a hat and wear comfortable shoes.

    Description

    Hike deep in the Niagara Gorge, along stairways cut into the rock and rugged paths that wind through this pristine pocket of Carolinian Forest. View ancient geological formations and fossils dating back millions of years, while hiking along the turbulent rapids of the Niagara River. This is a strenuous hike and there is a chance hikers will get wet. Bring water, a snack, gaiters and hiking poles, if necessary. Dress in layers. 🙂

    Description

    Join us to HELP FILL THE CRIB!!

    We will hike in from Ridge Road picking invasive plants such as garlic mustard and greater celandine along the way (reusable grocery bags or garbage bags work well). Once at the crib location, we will dump our bags and pick garlic mustard in that area for a while, dump it, then hike back out. Plenty of native spring plants to admire along the way – reducing invasive plants will give these species a chance to thrive!

    • you must register and submit a completed waiver for this hike
    • Students under 16 MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian on this hike (please refer to the BTC link https://brucetrail.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/VOL.05.01_Minors_Volunteering_Policy_-_Approved_February_2016.pdf )

    Please go to the registration table at the far pavilion when you arrive.  If you do not already have a Niagara Parks parking pass, a free day pass will be given to you at the registration table.

    The corn hole tournament will begin at 2 pm.  There will be two people on each team and 4 people per corn hole board.  Teams will be assigned.   The preliminary games beginning at 2 pm will be 15 minutes long and will end just prior to the AGM meeting.  The championship game for the top two teams will be held once the AGM portion of the meeting is complete.

    Come out to meet the Niagara Bruce Trail Club Board as well as other members!

    Learn what the board has done and what their future plans are.  Hear from BTC CEO Michael McDonald what has been happening at the Bruce Trail Conservancy.  Make your voice heard.

    When you arrive, please register at the registration desk at the pavilion.  If you don’t already have a Niagara Parks parking pass, you can pick up a free day pass at the registration desk.

    Food, beverages and dessert will be provided.   If you are able, please bring a salad to share with others.   In order to be environmentally friendly, we are asking everyone to bring their own plate and cutlery.

    There will be a corn hole tournament beginning at 2 pm prior to the meeting.  The championship game for the tournament will be held just after the meeting.  If you are interested in participating, please sign up separately on the hike schedule.
