    Description

    This is the first of three hikes to earn the Benchlands Hike badge.  This hike will also cover the Jordon Hollow and Upper Falls side trails and is very close to the Jim Rainforth Side trail for those working on their Side trail badge.

    We will meet at Jordon Hollow park NOTE: If construction on the nearby bridge on the day of the hike does not allow hikers to park, please meet on Glen Road parking lot around the corner (3640 Glen Rd, Jordan Station, ON L0R 1S0 in your GPS)-head away from the bridge towards the town of Jordan Station and head up the hill on 19th Street and right on Glen Road, there is roadside parking just after the Trail Crossing sign.

    We will hike towards Ball’s Falls and visit the village and upper falls.  The trail is very rocky and there is a very, very large staircase in this hike.  Good footwear is required, poles optional but suggested.

    Note: If you are completing this hike for the benchlands or side trails badge(s) there are some photos required so bring a camera!

    Moderate pace with some weeks entirely on sidewalks and roads while others may include a mix of trails and paved pathways. Great way to build up endurance for longer more strenuous hikes.

    Prepare for cooler windy conditions on open parkland and along Lake Ontario and Niagara River trails.

    Plan to stay for conversation and a warm cup of coffee or tea at Sweets & Swirls, Community Centre, Niagara Stone Road, NOTL

    Description

    This is the 2nd hike required to earn the Benchlands Badge-Jordon Historical. We will meet at the entrance of the Lincoln Museum and explore the buildings.  It is an easy, flat, paved suburban walk.  We plan to be finished with our walk by 10 am when the museum opens so if you wish to explore the museum as well, please note that there is a suggested donation of $5. Please note if you are hoping to earn the badge that there are some questions that must be answered, so bring a way to take some notes!  It’s highly suggested that you download and save to your smartphone or possibly print out this brochure: PDF Page Jordan is a lovely village with a few coffee shops around, so feel free to linger afterwards!

    Description

    We will hike a loop on the main trail from Malivoire Wine Co to the Margaret Reed Side Trail at Cave Springs Conservation Area and back to Malivoire Wine Co by 11:30. Upon return we will enjoy a private structured wine tasting led by one of the knowledgeable and friendly winery staff from 11:30 to 12:00 noon. The cost for the tasting experience is $12.00 per person. Please bring your $12.00 with you as I will collect it prior to the tasting to simplify the payment to Malivoire Wine Co. Thank you.

    Description

    This is the 3rd hike required for the Benchlands Badge-Wineries of the Beamsville Bench. Meet at Mountainview conservation area and we will hike to several wineries in the Bench, there will be some road hiking during which time it may be required that we hike single file facing traffic.

    If you are working on your Side trail badge, this hike will feature: Angel’s gate side trail and the Beamsville Bench side trail. The Mountainview side trail will be very near our parking location if you would like to complete that as well.

    Do note if you are working on the Benchlands or Side Trails badges there are photo requirements, please bring a camera with you.

    After the hike while you are in the area feel free to enjoy Mountainview Conservation area or any of the wineries in the area now that you’ll know where many of them are located!

    Description

    This is a self-led hike. Hike along the Bruce Trail from Laura Secord’s Homestead in Queenston to Decew House in Thorold. Participants will be transported by bus from check in at Niagara Region office to the start of the hike and will hike at their own pace to the final checkpoint. There will be volunteer drivers available to drive you back to your car once the hike is over. You may be asked to wear a mask in the car.

    Bring snacks, water and bug spray. We also recommend sunscreen, basic first aid supplies, spare socks and a cell phone. There will be 3 checkpoints (2 along the trail and one at the end) to replenish water and snacks and anyone wishing to drop out of the hike should do so at a checkpoint. Hikers are responsible for informing club volunteers of their intention to drop out.

    You will receive a reminder email two days before the event with further details about the hike.

    Description

    Take a mindful break from daily life and immerse yourself in nature during this 3-hour guided meditation walk. Through gentle movement, breathwork, and stillness, we will reconnect with the present moment and the natural world around us.

    The experience includes a slow, intentional walk with guided breathing exercises, sensory awareness practices, and a 30-minute silent forest sitting meditation to ground and restore. Behrang, an experienced hiker and psychotherapist, will be accompanying us on this mindful journey.

    No prior meditation experience is needed. Please wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water and a cushion or mat for sitting, if you wish.
