    Gentle Hike - Oakville

    Distance: 6 km

    Description

    Come Explore the beautiful Sixteen Mile Creek Valley in Oakville. This valley is a jewel in the middle of a busy urban area. The Sixteen Mile Creek winds its way through steep cliffs and woods. We will walk along the upper trails and then down onto the lower trails beside the creek. Some long and gentle hills. Bring a snack, water, insect repellent and sunscreen. Meet in the parking lot, beside the baseball diamonds, on the southeast corner of Neyagawa and River Glen Blvd. (north of Upper Middle Rd. and south of Highway 5). for a 10:00 am. start.

    Description

    We will hike various trails and streets in the area, including the Battlefield Park Side Trail and the Bruce Trail. Optional Apres Hike stop for Pizza (Has outdoor patio!)

    Directions: Take Centennial Parkway to King Street (Last traffic light before climbing the escarpment). Go East on King Street. Turn immediately right into the driveway for Battlefield Park (Sign at bottom of driveway on King Street). Meet in Parking Lot.

    Tuesday Evening Not-the-Bruce Trail Hike

    Description

    This maze of Middle Dundas Valley trails will start from the parking lot of the Lion’s Club Outdoor Pool on Jerseyville Rd. in Ancaster. Get there by taking Wilson St. in Ancaster to Fiddler’s Green. Turn right on Fiddler’s and go to the stop sign at Jerseyville Rd. Turn left on Jerseyville and go 1 km to the entrance to the Outdoor Pool on your right. Wear boots and bring water. We’ll do pub stop after.

    We will hike from Greensville along Spencer Creek to Christie Lake and return via a similar route. Meet at Park Avenue, Greensville – beside the playground. Park Ave is south of Hwy 8 just 50 metres west of Bullocks Corners. Take Hwy 8 north from Dundas or take Brock Rd south from Hwy 5.

    Climb the steps and walk the streets and trails of West Hamilton. We will hike sections of the Bruce Trail as well as the trails of Iroquoia Heights. There will be weekly walks all summer. Now we are all getting older we are not hiking as fast as we used to. Hike is cancelled if there is heavy rain.

    This loop will take in Crawford Lake, the beautiful Nassagaweya Canyon and parts of Rattlesnake Point. The connection between the two areas makes an interesting and picturesque hike. Bring a snack or lunch, water, insect repellent and sunscreen. Meet in the lower parking lot of Crawford Lake Conservation Area, located on the east side of Guelph Line, north of Derry Rd.
