Description We will drive to the Hoggs Falls parking lot at km 67.5 on Lower Valley Rd. in the Beaver Valley section. After viewing the falls, we will do a figure 8 loop hike using both the main trail and various side trails. This hike takes us through a variety of different terrains and landscapes. Description Take a stroll around Niagara Falls to see the annual Festival of Lights display. Dress accordingly – warmer than a faster hike so you can take your time and enjoy the sites without getting too cold.

Description Meet at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am start at the top part of the Oakville Town Hall visitor parking lot located at the south east corner of Trafalgar Road and White Oaks Blvd. We will hike on the trails in the Morrison Valley and on nearby trails. The trail is mostly flat with some gentle hills. Bring water, a snack, poles if you use them and icers depending on the weather. Covid protocols apply.

Description This loop hike begins with the Len Holley Side Trail, then follows the snowmobile trail to the Skinner’s Woods Side Trail. We will return to our cars via the Len Holley Side Trail. Bring a snack. Approx. 3 hours.

Location (Google Maps): Meet in the Grey Sauble Conservation Area Old Baldy parking lot, south of km 43.5, at the end of the road. Map 25/26 Edition 30. This can be accessed from Grey Road 7 -Artemesia-Euphrasia Townline – 3rd Line A – Sideroad 7B. Do not use 7B from Grey Road 13 in the winter.

Description This will be an in and out hike with great views over the valley from the Old Baldy escarpment edge, a pleasant rural road walk and a lovely walk through the new East Mountain reroute.

Wear sturdy footwear and appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain. Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate. Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
Always carry I.D. and your health card.

Description Some safety procedures during the hike:
1-Hikers must stay between the leader and the sweep.

Description Hike a loop from Woodend Conservation through hilly terrain to St Paul Ave, Niagara Falls. We will pass through the Screaming Tunnel and Fireman’s Park.

Description To get to the Secord Forest & Wildlife Area from HWY 401, get on Hwy 404 north and exit Bloomington Rd. Turn right on Bloomington Rd (EAST). At the traffic lights at GOODWOOD Community Centre Stay to the right to GOODWOOD Rd (#21). Drive to Goodwood United Church at Concession 3 Road. Right on Concession 3 rd to SECORD RD. Left on Secord rd to the Parking. Of course depending on where you are coming from the above might not be the best route to get to Secord Forest.
There is also a pet cemetery in the Secord Forest.
Please dress for the weather and bring a lunch, water/hot drink and any other essentials for the day.

Description We will hike south on the Main Trail to the Glen Haffy Side Trail (Km 41.8), then east on Glen Haffy to Mono-Adjala Townline, returning by the same route. If conditions are good, the hike may be extended further into the Humber River Valley to the south. If we get an early hit of winter, snowshoes or icers could be required. A notice will be sent to all registered hikers if this is the case. Bring water, lunch, snacks.

Join us for a leisurely loop hike through the Limehouse Conservation Area to learn how to make use of this app. This will be a short leisurely hike with the emphasis, not on a physical workout, but on observation and learning. Description This is the second hike in our Toronto Section, Blue and White hiking series. We start on the Bennett Heritage Side Trail (ST) going North to join the Main Bruce trail at 35.1KM, Map 13, Ed 30. We continue to 38.7KM on the Main trail and return back taking the Roberts ST and Irwin Quarry ST. We hike on the Main trail to take the Maureen ST that will take us back to the Bennett Heritage ST and the parking lot.
Dress according to the weather. Hiking boots are required. Bring your lunch and 1.5-2 litres of water.
Description Circular hike to Sunnybrook Park returning via Glendon Campus, York University. First we will hike through Chatsworth Ravine and return east to Alexander Muir Gardens at Yonge Street. Last 2 km will be on-street route or take TTC to return to Lawrence Station.

Driving directions: From Highway 401, north on Trafalgar Road, it will connect with Highway 7 – turn left, after about 4 km, turning right on Trafalgar Road (branching out), turn right on Sideroad 27, it will cross 8th line, continue on Sideroad 27. At T junction with Fallbrook Trail, turn right and park roadside.

Description This is a Special Event Hike on a private property near Waterloo Ont.
CHRISTMAS IN THE WILD AND WOODS
Come enjoy a short hike through the mixed coniferous and deciduous treed forest and around a pond and field. Afterward we can gather by the fire pit, enjoy hot beverages, Christmas music (if any one plays an instrument we’d love to hear you play) and your own lunch. Bring hotdogs, marshmallows or any other food items that can be roasted over the fire, if you like. Hot beverages – tea, coffee, apple cider, hot chocolate provided. There is a building on the property with washrooms, and tables and where hot beverages can be accessed. MASKS MUST BE WORN UNLESS EATING OR DRINKING. SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIRED.
There is a pond for skating, IF IT IS FROZEN. Bring snowshoes if you like, or cross country skis. We will even provide a few sleds or toboggans if you want to zoom down a short hill!
PROVE OF VACCINATION REQUIRED AND WILL BE CHECKED. The Optimist Club follows provincial guidelines.

Optimist Clubs are a not for profit service club organization that provide opportunities and assistance to and for children. Examples of their work include – YMCA run children’s summer camps on the property. The Waterloo School board uses the property for outdoor education. They provide funding for service dogs for autistic children. Scouts Canada and Guides Canada use the property for camping, outdoor activities and hiking all year long. These are just a few of the groups and activities they support.
Membership, rental of the property for special events; and fund raising activities and events is how they fund raise.

Description Always a beautiful place to hike, Sixteen Mile Creek is hidden gem within the urban setting of Glen Abby and River Oaks. Meet at 9:45 am. for a 10:00 am. start. We will explore the many trails both above and below the Sixteen Mile Creek. This valley was home to many mills in the early years of the settlements around Oakville. No evidence of them remains to this day. Bring water, a snack or lunch. You may want to bring your poles as we will be climbing and descending a number of long, gentle slopes. Description Each Friday we will explore different neighbourhoods, trails and parkland throughout Historic Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Moderate pace with some weeks entirely on sidewalks and roads while others may include a mix of trails and paved pathways. Great way to build up endurance for longer more strenuous hikes.

Description This will possibly be a snowshoe hike and we will therefore avoid the upper crevices by hiking a loop below the scarp edge. Picturesque view of Bass Lake and the wetlands. Approx. 1.5 to 2 hrs.
Description It is around 5 hours hike mostly fast and we will explore the last sceneries of fall in Uxbridge area.
There is a parking lot behind 2499 Brock road .

Description Starting at Queenston Heights Park, we’ll be hiking the main trail with a loop along the Upper Canada Heritage Trail. The trail is mostly moderate with two steep sections to get down the escarpment, and then back up again. Bring hiking boots, poles, and be prepared for mud and/or snow. Note that if you don’t have a Niagara Parks Parking Pass, that you will need to pay for parking at the trailhead.

Description This hike has been CANCELLED. This is one of our Friendship trails running along BTC trails and other conserved land north of Boyne Valley Provincial Park. We will park at km 29.4 on 1st Line E in the Dufferin Hi-Lands section. The 7km figure eight hike will follow the white blazed trail to km 25.4, looping back to the parking lot via the Oliver Creek Side Trail and the Moss Haven Side Trail. *The Bibbulmun Track in Western Australia stretches 1,000 km from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to the historic town of Albany on the south coast. The train also passes Kennedy GO next to Kennedy Subway one Line 2. GO Schedules to be confirmed during the week prior to the hike. Note the station building will be closed, no washrooms.
Description We will hike into the village of Unionville via the Rouge River Trail and Bruce’s Creek. After a brief stop we will hike around Toogood Pond and the trail network north of the pond toward 16th Avenue. We return to historic Main Street Unionville where we can watch and listen for the Candy Cane Carolers performing between 1:00 and 3:00. Terrain is mostly flat on easy trails. If there is snow on the ground icers may be required. Return to the start of the hike by following Main Street south to Enterprise Blvd. Trains to Union depart hourly at 48 minutes past the hour.
Description It is around 5 hours hike mostly fast and we will explore the last sceneries of fall in Uxbridge area.
There is a parking lot behind 2499 Brock road .
Some safety procedures during the hike:
1-Hikers must stay between the leader and the sweep.
2-Hikers must advise the leader or the sweep if they wish to leave the group. 3-Hikers must leave their backpack on the trail facing in the direction the group is walking if leaving the trail for a call of nature. The sweep will wait for the hiker to return to the trail.
4- Hikers must follow the whistle instructions: 1 blast- stay where you are; 2 blasts come to the leader; 3 blasts – come to the leader quickly
5- We may require volunteers to post on trail intersections, please remain there and make sure you see and wave for sweep.
6- Due to cold weather proper clothing and hiking boots are required.

This is private property: the Bruce Trail has permission from the school board to use this site when school is not in session.

Description On this hike, the last in the Toronto Side Trail Badge Challenge, we will hike some main trail as well as the Great Esker, Roberts, and Irwin Quarry Side Trails. Hiking boots are mandatory and poles are strongly recommended. Please have traction foot wear (eg. icers) with you as we may encounter icy conditions. The hike may be shortened if the conditions warrant it.
Bring at least 1.5L of water, snacks, and your lunch. Check the weather and dress accordingly.

Description Starting at Queenston Heights Park, we’ll be hiking the main trail with a loop along the Upper Canada Heritage Trail. The trail is mostly moderate with two steep sections to get down the escarpment, and then back up again. Bring hiking boots, poles, and be prepared for mud and/or snow. Note that if you don’t have a Niagara Parks Parking Pass, that you will need to pay for parking at the trailhead.

Description Fellow hikers, I am inviting you to join us for a pre-winter hike at Oak Ridges Trail. We will explore Glen Major Forest at a moderate pace which will allow us ample time to enjoy beautiful winter scenery and spend time with old and new Bruce Trail friends. We’ll hike between 12 – 14 km. We will have a drop-out at km. 6.
We all have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and will have to show proof of vaccination to enter the bus. We will have to wear a mask at all times on the bus.

Description This hike has been CANCELLED. This is one of our Friendship trails running along BTC trails and other conserved land north of Boyne Valley Provincial Park. We will park at km 29.4 on 1st Line E in the Dufferin Hi-Lands section. The 7km figure eight hike will follow the white blazed trail to km 25.4, looping back to the parking lot via the Oliver Creek Side Trail and the Moss Haven Side Trail. *The Bibbulmun Track in Western Australia stretches 1,000 km from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to the historic town of Albany on the south coast. Description This is the third hike in our Toronto Section, Blue and White hiking series. We start on the Bennett Heritage Side Trail (ST) going South to join the Main Bruce trail at 29.7KM, Map 13, Ed 30. We continue to 33.1KM on the Main trail and take the Great Esker ST. We return back on the Main trail to 28.4KM and take the Duff Pit ST. We return back on the Main trail and take the Bennett Heritage ST that will bring us back to the parking lot.
Dress according to the weather. Hiking boots are required. Bring your lunch and 1.5-2 litres of water.

Description Call it the Beaver Valley Combo platter. This is an in and out hike which will include a visit to Hogg’s Falls. We will also hike on the Upper & Lower Hogg’s Falls Side Trails. We’ll experience a variety of topography, including valley creeks and rivers.

Description MEET at City View Park at the SECOND parking lot going south from Dundas St.- We will cross Kerns Rd and hike Main trail over King St.(Salamander alley in Spring) to Mountain Brow Rd.
Option to go over the stile and continue 1 more km to Smokey Hollow to view falls and have a snack/lunch break- We will go back mostly the same way but take a Blue Side trail on our return towards Kerncliff Park and meander through the old quarry and then back to parking lot up top . Bring water, snack/lunch, appropriate clothing-rain or shine unless storm conditions prevail.

Description From City View Park we will hike north of Dundas St. and around Fisher’s Pond. Weather permitting, we will hike as far as Guelph Line and return by the same route.

Description This is a 3 km, 1.5 hr loop starting in Woodford. This hike takes you through a variety of forest, we will cross a small creek twice and go through some crevices (there is an alternate trail around). You will see an old lime kiln and see remnants of this old pioneer settlement. If people wish and the weather is good, we can add another 1.5 km and hike the Crevice Springs Loop across the road. Poles advised, you may need snowshoes or grippers.
Description Each Friday we will explore the area around Niagara-on-the-Lake. Discover where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario. Experience the Heritage District, woods and the Niagara Parkway. Hike along part of the Bruce Trail’s General Brock Side Trail as well as the Heritage Trail.
Some weeks may be totally on sidewalks and roads while others will include a mix of trail and paved pathways.
Great opportunity to see beautiful NOTL as well as build up your endurance for longer hikes.
Plan on staying for a coffee at the Sweets & Swirls Café, NOTL Community Centre.

Description This is an in and out hike, starting and ending at the parking spots on Guelph Line.
A short hike with deceiving elevation changes, there are lots of up and downs although not a very rocky section. There is a wonderful view of Burlington, Oakville and beyond. We’ll also go around Fisher’s Pond on the Side Trail on out way back.
Speed of Hike is Moderate at 3-3.5 KM / per hour. (Although stopping for photos is allowed:)
Please ensure you check the weather are dressed appropriately with layers. Boots are required. Poles are recommended. If weather gets cold and icy, please have crampons (ice cleats) with you. And please bring at least 1L of water, snacks/food.

Description There will be a small car shuttle involved with this hike. We will park at km 10.6 on 6/7 Sideroad Nottawasaga. This is a lovely snowshoe hike with rolling hills, pretty woods, and fields. We head to km 17.2. * The 180 km Transcarioca Trail crosses Rio de Janeiro from Barra de Guaratiba to Morro da Urca, at the foot of the Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Description We will drive via Grey Rd 119 to the end of the 6th Line in the Beaver Valley Section. We will hike along the Bruce Trail to km 11.3 where it joins up with the Margaret Paull Side Trail. We will follow the Side Trail back to the main trail, then return to the cars. Bring water and a snack. Map: 24 Edition 30

Pace: Leisurely: 3 km/h or less Terrain: Strenuous: Hilly with steep climbs and some poor footing. Distance: 2.9 km
Description The side trail follows the base of the escarpment to the bottom of Jones Falls, ascends through a rock crevasse to join the main trail on top. We return along the top of the escarpment, then descend steeply to the parking area. Walking poles or sticks are recommended, good footwear, and depending on snow/ice conditions: icers or snowshoes.
This hike will be off-trail and rugged, as we spend the day exploring forests, rock barrens and views in the area. We may get wet as we navigate our way around ponds and over steams on beaver dams. There will be lots of elevation change and challenges. This is an advanced hike! We’ll spend 6-8 hrs hiking 10-15 km.
Registered participants are to arrive 20 minutes prior to the hike for briefing. Bring a lunch plenty of water. No dogs. No dropouts.
Snowshoes, hiking poles, trail crampons (~2/3″ cleats), headlamp are MANDATORY (at least at the trailhead where we will evaluate existing conditions). Do not show up without them. It would also be a good idea to wear gaitors.
Description Walker Woods is in Uxbridge Township on Concession Road 6. Dress for the weather and if you have ICERS I advise to walk with it. Walk with water and or a hot drink including something to eat.
So we can start on time I would appreciate if everyone can be at the parking lot about 15 mins before departure time which is 9:00 a.m. Parking is FREE at 2989 Concession Road 6.

NEW TORONTO SIDE TRAIL BADGE
The Side Trail Badge is awarded to those hikers who complete 45 km of the blue-blazed Side Trails in the Toronto section. If you hike a side trail in both directions those kms hiked can only be counted once. If you hike part of a side trail, you can include those kms hiked. These 3 hikes are intended for anyone wishing to complete all 45km over the 3 scheduled days. These will be car shuttle hikes and for the safety of everyone, will be limited to those who are double vaccinated. We will meet on the first day at the Bruce Trail parking lot in Speyside and car shuttle to Hilton Falls.
Total distance each day might be +/- 20km as some main trail may have to be hiked.
If weather prevents us from completing these hikes in December, an alternative date will be January 3, 2022.
Description On the first half of the hike, take in the magic of the rising moon over the Commons and the Niagara River Parkway. Connect with your senses – sights, sounds, smells and the rhythm of your breath. On the last half of the hike, we will walk through the streets of Historic Old Town and enjoy the holiday lights. Bring a night light and dress for weather – counts towards your night hike badge (5 night hikes) and winter badge (15 hikes between December 21st and March 21st).

Description We will head to the Loree Forest parking on the 21st Sideroad. We will walk down the road, starting the hike at km 8.4 of the Beaver Valley section. Description We will park on the Osprey-Blue Mountain Townline at the Clearview Townline at km 44.5. The white trail immediately climbs the escarpment along a narrow winding forested path. At a mid-elevation plateau, the trail and forest open up. We will take the Standing Rock and Caves Side Trail which involves moving up through narrow crevices and some climbing between huge rock formations. Make sure you bring crampons if not wearing snowshoes! We will stay on the white blazed trail walking past Eagle Cres. parking area and then around to the Singhampton Side Trail, looping back down the white blazed trail to the cars. Map: 23 Edition 30

Description This is a shorter walk then normal. We will walk down to the Hendrie Valley, do the Bridle Trail Loop, take the boardwalk out to the Valley Inn Bridge, up the road to Woodland Cemetery where we will have views across the Bay and then follow city streets to the parking lot. Should be mostly good footing, but may be slippery in places and icers might be needed depending on the weather on the days before the walk. Bring water and a snack, if you like. Description Each Friday we will explore the area around Niagara-on-the-Lake. Discover where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario. Experience the Heritage District, woods and the Niagara Parkway. Hike along part of the Bruce Trail’s General Brock Side Trail as well as the Heritage Trail.
Some weeks may be totally on sidewalks and roads while others will include a mix of trail and paved pathways.
Great opportunity to see beautiful NOTL as well as build up your endurance for longer hikes.
Plan on staying for a coffee at the Sweets & Swirls Café, NOTL Community Centre.
Description We will explore Toronto Islands ,please gather in front of ferry ticket station at the foot of Bay street down town before 9.00 AM
You can buy return tickets on line for fast entry and avoid line up.
It is winter time all participants are required to have Ice cleats with them, have proper shoes, warm clothing and hot drinks with you.
Covid-19 protocol and procedure in effect in parking area and during the hike
Some safety procedures during the hike:
1-Hikers must stay between the leader and the sweep.
2-Hikers must advise the leader or the sweep if they wish to leave the group.
3- Hikers must follow the whistle instructions: 1 blast- stay where you are; 2 blasts come to the leader; 3 blasts – come to the leader quickly.
4-Hike leader may request volunteers to stop at trail intersections, they need to help hikers to the direction the group walk and wait till they see the sweep .
5-Hikers have to make sure they can see the persons behind and in front of them.

Description Spend Christmas in the woods. This is a there-and-back hike from Kilbride Public School to Crawford Lake and back. The terrain is flat for the most part and quietly wooded. The goal is to take in the crisp fresh air and appreciate our surroundings while getting some healthy exercise and having a few laughs. There may even be some snow! Please make sure you have your icers, hiking boots, warm drink, water, lunch and snacks. Poles strongly recommended. Covid protocols respected. Please meet for 9:00 am for a prompt 9:15 am start.
Hosting Club: Toronto Category: Urban Walk Location (Google Maps): Meet inside the waiting area of Jack Layton Ferry Terminal at the Foot Of Bay Street at 9:45 AM to take the 10:00 AM Ferry to Ward’s Island. Ferry tickets can be purchased online (non-refundable and valid only on the selected date. Ferry return fares: $8.50 adult, $5.50 student/senior, $4.00 junior (under 14).
Description Avoid the Boxing Day shopping crowds and come hike with the TBTC instead. The Toronto Islands are very peaceful in the Winter Season. We will catch the 3:15 or 3:45 pm ferry to be back in the city by 4 pm. Bring a lunch, snacks, water, a hot beverage, and icers if the first snow has fallen. Dress in warm layers appropriate to the weather. Heated washrooms available. Dropout anytime by walking back to the Ward’s Island Ferry Dock. We will hike towards Hanlan’s Point and return to Ward’s Island (the only destination served in the Winter) – approximately 5-6 km each way.
Description From southernmost bus stop of 44 Kipling bus we shall proceed South to Lake Ontario, then West along Lake Promenade to Marie Curtis Park where we shall proceed North along Etobicoke Creek to Sherway Gardens Mall.
We shall take a short lunch break at Marie Curtis Park.
The hike will end at the Sherway Gardens South bus stop of 123 Sherway bus near the Tim Hortons on West Mall just North of Evans Avenue. The 123 Sherway bus will transport you back to Kipling subway station.
Caledon Hills, Map 15. Meet at Forks of the Credit Provincial Park parking lot off of McLaren Rd about 2 kms southeast of County Rd 24. From Caledon Village on Hwy 10, turn southwest. McLaren Rd is the second intersection on the left. Parking fee ($7.50) or Parks Ontario seasonal/annual permit required.
Pace: Leisurely Terrain: Moderate Distance: 6.5 or 3.5 km
Description We will hike a loop consisting of the Meadow Trail, Main Trail and Dorothy Medhurst Side Trail. Shorter hike follows the Meadow Trail to Main Trail, looping back to parking by way of the Main Trail and south arm of the Meadow Trail.
Hosting Club: Caledon Hills Category: Tuesday Hikers Location (Google Maps): Meet at 6th Line Nassagaweya, first parking lot. From Highway 401 West, go north on Road 25, left on 5 Sideroad, it will become Campbellville Rd., continue on it, turn right on 6th Line Nassagaweya, parking entrance is on the left somewhat hidden, keep looking as you drive. There is another but smaller parking lot about 1 kilometre further north, if you reach there turn back to the first one.

Description It’s the last Tuesday of the year and let’s hike in the woods and hopefully snack around the fire place at Hilton Falls. We will hike a combination of Hilton Falls Blue Trail and Conservation Area trails; it will be a complete round trip with a stop at the falls. Bring your icers, gaiters, snack, water, and a warm drink if you like. Social distancing is to be observed. In the event parking at 6th Line is found overflowing, be ready to move to 10 Sideroad / 4th line Nassagaweya off Guelph Line, to be be decided when we are there.
Pace: Medium: 3 to 4 km/h Terrain: Moderate: Some hills and/or poor footing, There might be icy and slippery sections. Distance: 3.8 km plus road section
Description Inglis Falls loop. We can walk along the new road to make this a loop. Approx. 2 hours. Icers and poles suggested.

Pace: Brisk – 4 to 5 km/hr, Medium – 3 to 4 km/hr Terrain: Moderate – Some hills and/or some poor footing, Slippery Sections Likely Distance: 14 km
Description Meet at Crawford Lake Conservation Area parking area nearest to the gatehouse. Conservation Authority reservation fee system is in effect. Make two consecutive Crawford Lake CA reservations beginning at 9:00 one week before the hike.
We will take the Crawford Lake Side Trial to the Main Trail and hike past the lookout and then down into the Nassagaweya Canyon and up to the top of the Rattlesnake Point CA ridge. We will return to our cars via blue and white trails. This hike includes steep inclines in and out of the Nassagaweya Canyon. Ice and snow could make the trail treacherous.
Dress appropriately for the weather and for icy or snow-covered trails. Icers/micro spikes or snowshoes may be required. Bring food and water, hiking boots, cold weather outerwear, personal first aid kit. No dogs please.

Description We will hike along the Speed River, from RR 32 to Blackbridge Road. We will cross the bridge and also hike a short while on the opposite side of the river. We will then re-trace our steps back to our cars. We will be alert for ducks and other birds that frequent this area.
