    Description

    **This hike has been cancelled due to Covid 19 precautions.
    This is the first of a series of 11 hikes to complete the Iroquoia Section N-S, in the winter, twice! The other dates are planned for Jan 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, subject to weather conditions. We will hike Mon, Tues and Wed in January and push it to February if the weather prohibits us from hiking. Each participant will be emailed a schedule of meeting locations before January 5.

    A few of the meeting locations will require reservations and a fee or a conservation pass. Sometimes we will meet in the same spot over two days and travel S-N one day and N-S the following day. Sometimes we will head in both directions the same day.

    These hikes are subject to pandemic protocols and masks are strongly recommended.

    Crampons or a suitable traction device will be needed for your boots – please ensure you bring these.

    This is a small group series of hikes as there is limited capacity for parking in some locations. We will meet at 8:30 each day, brisk pace, 15 min lunch. Please register only if you intend to complete the entire series.

    If you are driving north of Guelph Avenue (=Highway 24 once you are out of town), you will cross railway tracks, then turn left onto Sheffield. Drive until you see a gravel parking lot but park in the paved area on your left side instead. Either parking location is fine. If you have gone around a curve, you have gone too far.

    Description

    CANCELLED DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS. The goal is to depart at 8:30, hike 8 to 12 kms, and return to our cars shortly after 12 noon.  Depending upon conditions we may be able to snow shoe.     This is a there and back hike using Main and Blue Side Trails to visit Sherman Falls, an old favourite. Along the way we pass Hermitage Falls and Canterbury Falls. Meet in the last parking lot before the Trail Centre for a 10:00 am. start. Entry Fee or Conservation Area Pass. Bring water, a snack/lunch, icers and poles (if using). This hike is open to BTC members only. Once registered you will receive a confirmation with items to bring and Covid 19 protocols .

    Description

    We’ll hike to Tiffany/ Sherman Falls and back, then take a loop within Dundas Valley, taking in Canterbury Falls.  Bring icers or snowshoes depending on conditions.   Hiking poles recommended.

    Directions:  From Hwy403 going west up the escarpment, take Exit 64 following Mohawk/Rousseau Rd North (right).  Continue to T junction, then turn right on Wilson St., then  left  at the next traffic light on Montgomery Dr, then  right as the Stop, following Old Dundas Rd down a steep hill, take the next left on Lions Club Rd, then the next right on Artaban Road.
