Description

Over thousands of years, the Humber and its valley provided Indigenous peoples – the Wendat (Huron), the Onondowagah (Seneca), and the Mississaugas of the Credit among others – with water, food, and shelter, and with means for travel and trade via the Toronto Passage. French explorers and traders made good use of this route and the Humber River provided a source of power for the settlers who followed. Today, the Humber valley affords much-needed recreation space for our city.

Please join us and discover the history of the Toronto Passage with Lisette Mallet. Lisette is an artist, historian, nature interpreter, and project manager. A Toronto resident, she finds inspiration in her Acadian and métis roots. She’s been involved in projects such as Wild Furbearer Conservation and Management in North America, The Shared Path, the Humber River’s Canadian Heritage River designation. Her learning journey now includes traditional foodways and home remedies.
