Description

This is the first in a series of hikes to complete the Secrets of Sydenham Badge. We will do the hikes in order, as weather and hiking conditions allow.  Come for the whole series or just the ones you couldn't find. Unfortunately, the number of hikers is limited on many of the hikes due to lack of parking. Each hike will take about 2 hours, including time spent searching for the hidden plaque. If you need a copy of Ron Savage's Secrets of Sydenham book, I will have books for sale ($20, all proceeds to BTC). The book features 45 Sydenham nature reserves (properties owned by BTC) and includes interesting stories and historical information about the properties. This first hike is an in and out hike at a medium pace.  We will pass the new Rocklyn Creek bridge, built by the Canadian 32nd Combat Engineer Regiment. There is a steep climb up the escarpment and a steep descent, in each direction.
