Description
Join me as we visit the final resting place and site of the former Winding Lane Bird Sanctuary started in the late 1920s by world renowned ornithologist, Roy Ivor and carried on after his death by his assistant, Bernice Inman-Emery.
We will be hiking a clockwise loop on Sawmill Valley Trail, Folkway Park trail, Mullet Creek trail and UTM trails south along the Credit River to our starting point at Erindale Park.
I have made a slight adjustment to our route due to snow accumulation and icy conditions. We will not cross the Burnhamthorpe Bridge to access the Culham Trail but instead shorten the route to access the pristine UTM Woods and trails giving us beautiful views of the Credit River from the top of the valley.
We will be walking on varied surfaces and trails, some maintained and others not, also our speed and progress will vary depending on the degree of difficulty of sections of trail.
Please pack a lunch and your favorite hot beverage. Icers will likely be required. Pack them just in case.
