Description

• This hike will ramble around the Bognor Marsh Management Area.  This Management Area includes upland forests, three major marshes, natural regeneration areas, and several small springs feeding the marsh and stream system.  It is home to a variety of waterfowl and other marsh-living animals, birds, and plants.  Numerous interpretive signs along the boardwalk indicate the varied species of wildlife that call this marsh home.  Hopefully, we will encounter some of this wildlife! We will slowly walk the extensive boardwalk scanning for anything that moves.  We will have the opportunity to get a birds eye view of the marsh from a viewing tower.  From the tower we will continue to follow the main trail into the forest to observe any wildlife that is about.  From here we will re-trace our steps over the boardwalk and return to our vehicles.

This will be a great hike for anyone who wants to get out and get some fresh air in a natural environment.  No previous hiking experience is necessary.  Just bring your enthusiasm for the great outdoors!

A pair of binoculars and/or a scope will come in handy during this hike.  You may also want to download the Seek app to help us identify plants and the Merlin Bird App to help us identify birds.

• Personal medications (ie: epi pen) and your health card
• Bring: snacks, water, bug spray
