Description

Limehouse was once a thriving area where limestone was removed from the escarpment, treated in the lime kilns, one of which is partially restored and the end product shipped out to Toronto and other areas for construction projects. Meet in the parking lot of the Limehouse Conservation Area at 12169 Fifth Line, Limehouse. Bring water, a snack, sunscreen and hiking poles if using. We will use a combination of main and blue side trails to explore the Conservation Area going along the Black Creek, past the lime kilns and further north along Main Bruce Trail to the Todd Bares Side Trail which contains a beautiful meadow where the Toronto Bruce Trail Club has established a Seed Orchard. We then retrace our route back to the Conservation Area and to our cars via the "Hole in the Wall". Some rocky areas along with hills. I will send out an email with my contact information the day before.
