Do you want to learn about new plants and animals? Are you interested in becoming a CITIZEN SCIENTIST and contributing to ecological research? Join a BTC Trail Ambassador for an i-Naturalist hike at Juniper Flats Side Trail and learn about the Alvar Habitat found here. It's a great way to slow down and take time to notice the beauty and diversity of nature around you. Using the free i-Naturalist app you can take and submit photos to the Bruce Trail Conservancy i-Naturalist Project. When you share your photos with i-Naturalist, the APP provides identification suggestions based on your submission. Download the free i-Naturalist app to your phone and ask to join the Bruce Trail Conservancy Project, prior to the hike.
This is an in and out, slowly paced hike intended to provide an opportunity to practice using the i-Naturalist app and learning about the flora and fauna located here.
Wear sturdy, closed toed footwear, hat, sunscreen. Bring your phone and/or camera, insect repellent, litter-less snack and water.
Terrain is uneven with rock crevices. Tree roots and rocks can be slippery.
