Description
This is a six-day group hike on six consecutive Wednesdays, from November 11 to December 16, 2026. We walk the Bruce Trail northbound from Beamer Falls in Grimsby to Kelso Conservation Area in Milton, about 123 km in total, with days of 18 to 25 km.
Meeting, shuttle, and pace. We meet at 8:00 am at the finish point for the day, leave a set of cars there, and shuttle together to the starting point. From there we hike back to the meeting spot. Hikers must be willing to drive or ride in the shuttle, and cars should be ready for carpooling. We keep a moderate pace of 3 to 4 km per hour with short breaks. Most days finish between 2:00 and 4:00 pm, depending on pace and trail conditions. Sunset falls between about 4:40 and 5:00 pm during the series, so please carry a headlamp.
Dropouts. There are no planned dropout points along the route. A hiker who needs to leave the trail early is responsible for arranging their own transportation.
Late fall clothing and equipment
- Moisture-wicking base layer, since cotton holds moisture and chills quickly.
- Insulating mid layer, such as fleece or wool.
- Waterproof, windproof outer shell, with rain pants if the forecast is wet.
- Waterproof hiking boots with good tread, and wool socks with a spare pair in your pack.
- Warm hat, gloves, and a neck warmer, plus a spare pair of gloves.
- Trekking poles for slippery descents.
- Microspikes or traction aids from late November onward, in case of ice.
- Headlamp with fresh batteries.
- At least 2 litres of water and enough food for the full day.
- Insulated bottle with a hot drink.
- Small first aid kit and a whistle.
- Fully charged phone with the trail map downloaded offline, and a power bank, since cold drains batteries quickly.
- Dry spare layer kept in a waterproof bag.
- Check the forecast the night before, and expect it to feel colder than the number shows.
