Description
In partnership with the Wiarton Propeller Club, the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club (PBTC) is excited to offer a new series of hikes designed especially for first time senior hikers. Hikes will be short, with an easy pace and terrain. Hikers will learn the basics of hiking including proper use of hiking poles, following trail blazes, keeping safe on the trail, and suitable gear tips for water and snacks. Hikes will feature some of the beautiful sites near Wiarton and provide a fun, social outing with lots of time for conversation with fellow hikers.
Hike #2 in the series will loop around Skinner's Bluff on the main Bruce Trail and the Chris Walker Side Trail for 3km, offering impressive views of Colpoy's Bay and the islands at the mouth of the Bay. There is a mix of flat and rolling forested sections and some rockier paths. Duration of the hike will be about 2.5 hours.
The group will meet at the Wiarton Propeller Club, and carpool to the Bruce Trail roadside parking at the Skinner's Bluff trail head. If you have a vehicle, you are expected to participate in carpooling hikers to the start of the hike and back to the meeting point. Any applicable parking fees will the shared equally.
Dress and prepare for the weather conditions that day. Bring sufficient hydration, accessible snacks, hiking poles.
