Description

This hike is a memorial hike in honour of Dan Welsh. Leaders also include Smadar Junkin and Jacqueline Van Dyke.
Suggest arriving at 8:45 to make sure we can start at 9:15 am. One very long hill to descend and then ascend.

Parking is at the community center parking lot behind Kilbride P.S.  (Stay to the left of the school to reach Kilbride Park parking lot ; https://goo.gl/maps/QuFcofsvcwFLcqAC9)

This is a short hike on the road to the main Bruce Trail, then onto the River and Ruin Side Trail to the Dan Welsh Side Trail and back in a loop. Many of you made generous donations to the Bruce Trail Conservancy in Dan's name to secure a commemorative plaque in his honor. This plaque will be mounted on our hike along the new side trail that bears his name.

Light refreshments will be served afterwards and you will have a chance to buy the limited edition "Bluebird" badge ($20 cash). All proceeds go to the Iroquoia club, where Dan was a volunteer and hike leader. We will hear from Bruce Trail Conservancy CEO, Michael McDonald and from the Planned Giving & Donor Relations Officer, Gloria Vidovich. We welcome your stories and memories of Dan as we remember his life and all that he meant to so many of us

If you can, please wear plaid, jeans and a ball hat as a tribute to Dan. We look forward to spending this special morning with you all.
