Description
Join BTC ecologist (and moss enthusiast!) Mara McHaffie and members of the Toronto Bruce Trail Club's Biodiversity Team on a hike to learn about mosses on the Bruce Trail. This will be a leisurely wander with lots of stops to look and learn about the mosses we find. This hike will be geared for beginners - no experience necessary! We will discuss the basics of moss ecology and ID, tips for finding different species, guides and resources, and some interesting species that are located in the area.
Besides water and snacks, bring a magnifying glass/hand lens/loupe if you have one, and please dress for the weather. Note that due to the slow pace and frequent stops, you may want to dress more warmly than you would for a faster-paced hike (think "layers").
Notes: this will be a small group, limited to 10. Please consider carpooling.
