Description
As part of Bruce Trail Day, the Toronto Club is organizing a historical hiking tour, on the property of the Limehouse Conservation Area, where the main Bruce Trail route is located. We are fortunate to have local historian, Mark Rowe, to be our tour guide. You will learn about the village's rich history and importance as a vital stop on the Grand Trunk Railway and later as part of the Radial Suburban Railway. Mark will take us to some of the formidable landmarks on this 3k hike, such as the Powder House, Draw Kiln, Mill Run Ruins and Stone Arch Bridge. You will learn about the importance of the critical raw material lime, and see the various crevices and caves, including the famous Hole in the Wall. The walking tour is expected to take approximately 2 hours. The route is mostly flat with a ladder to access the Hole in the Wall and some uneven rock surfaces. Washroom facilities will be available at the start of the hike.
Bring appropriate outdoor clothing, including good hiking shoes or running shoes, water and a snack.
