Description
This is the first of a three part Dufferin End to End series. On today's hike, we'll go along the west side of Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, past a steel viewing platform and a set of steel stairs leading down the sheer cliff to two interpretive plaques. We'll circle around McCarston's Lake, formed about 13,000 years ago by the gradual melting of a huge, buried piece of ice that had been left behind by a retreating glacier. Hiking on country roads, we'll pass farmlands, and walk through fields and woodlots before finishing our hike, just outside the Boyne Valley Provincial Park.
Please arrive prior to 8:15 to be ready for an 8:30 departure. This is a car shuttle series so please be prepared to share equally in the shuttling.
Check the weather the night before/night of, the hike and dress accordingly. Bring enough water, snacks, and lunch to last the entire hike. Hopefully we won't need them, but please bring your icers. We will be crossing ravines which could still have snow/ice.
