Description

TBTC is collaborating with Climate Action for Lifelong Learners (CALL) for a leisurely walk along the Todd Bardes Side Trail, which branches off the main trail near Limehouse. The trail takes us through meadows of prairie grass where a volunteer crew from the Toronto Club has been working to increase biodiversity on the property. It has been replanting wildflowers native to the area, controlling invasive species, planting trees, and erecting birdhouses, bee and butterfly way stations.

Along the way we’ll talk about what an amazing variety of life we can find along the Niagara Escarpment, and learn why biodiversity is so important to the health of the planet. We’ll also meet the members of CALL and hear how they are encouraging each other to be informed on climate issues and to take collective and individual actions. Those who wish can join us for a pub lunch in Georgetown following the hike.

CARPOOLING - We encourage all hikers to consider carpooling, to help nature and fight climate change.  Climate Action for Lifelong Learners (CALL) will facilitate this -- click HERE to fill out their carpooling form.  The deadline is midnight on Thursday June 16.  On Friday, June 17 CALL will send all potential carpoolers a list of everyone's name, phone number and other information. At that point, PASSENGERS will have the responsibility to reach out to DRIVERS to find a seat.

Bring along with you water, sun screen, and insect repellant and wear long pants.
