    Description

    Join me for a leisurely walk from Old Mill Subway south to the lakefront. We will go west a little bit and take in part of Humber Bay Park East, before heading eastward along the lake to High Park. We’ll take a meandering route through the forested area, finishing at the north east corner of the Park, across from the Keele Subway Station.

    We are starting early to avoid the worst heat of the day and you’ll have the entire afternoon and evening to relax.

    You Need: Bring at least two litres of water and snacks. Good walking shoes will be adequate. Sun protection.

    Description

    Join us for a morning hike on Mississauga’s Waterfront Trail through Marie Curtis Park, Lakefront Promenade Park, and the beautiful Adamson Estate.. We’ll follow the Waterfront Trail route to the Credit River & the “village” of Port Credit. After the hike  have lunch in the park or there is a variety of restaurants and pubs along Lakeshore Blvd.  Return to Toronto or start by GO Train (trains run on the hour) or by taking the #23E Miway (Mississauga) bus back to Long Branch.  Bring sunscreen, hand sanitizer, mask, water,  snacks,  and lunch. Physical distancing  of 2 metres between hikers to be maintained during the hike.

    We will walk southbound along Colborne Drive to Lakeshore Blvd, eastbound along the Western Beaches, pass Palais Royale & the Boulevard Tennis Club, go through Ontario Place, and finish at Harbourfront for refreshments at Lavazza Coffee Shop. Dropout along the Lakeshore any time but public transportation not available until we arrive at Ontario Place. Duration of hike 3-4 hours. Lunch & refreshment stops and washrooms along the route based on the weather conditions.

    Description

    Join me for a relaxed walk from Guildwood GO Station along the trails following Highland Creek and down to the waterfront. We’ll walk eastward along the lakeshore to the Rouge Hill GO Station where we will finish the walk. The walk is largely shaded except for the last portion along the lakefront.

    An early start to avoid the worst heat of the day.

    Washrooms: Guildwood GO, Colonel Danforth Park, Rouge Hill GO.

    What you need: 2 litres of water, snacks, sun protection.

    Heading Home:

    A westbound train leaves Rouge Hill Station at 4 minutes past the hour. This will take you towards downtown with several stops along the route, including Guildwood if you left your car there.

    TTC route 38 departs Rouge Hill Station every 12 minutes or so, connecting with the Scarborough LRT at Scarborough Centre Station, which will connect you to the Bloor/Danforth Subway line. This is a very slow option to return west.

    Special Note: If everyone registered for the hike arrives before 8:30 we will depart earlier than planned. But we won’t start any later than 8:30.

    Join us for a circular hike through Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Moore Park Ravine, Evergreen Brickworks, and David Balfour Park. This is a favourite with urban hikers with natural environments close to the heart of the city. A few hills. Bring water (2 Litres is recommended) and snacks. Optional dropout at the Evergreen Brickworks (take TTC bus back to Davisville Station). Return to start by 12:30 PM.

    • Come join me for a scenic walk along Lake Ontario to Rattray Marsh, finishing at Jack Darling Memorial Park Entrance from where we will catch Mi Way #23 bus back to our point of origin. This is a one way hike with an added loop at the start and finish. Among the highlights will be the Credit River Marsh off of Mineola & Stavebank Roads, Port Credit Light House, Godfrey’s Lane Parkette’s tree carvings, Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens, the Peace Stone in Richard’s Memorial Park and Rattray Conservation Area.
    • Rest Stops: At 5.3 and 10.8 km
    • Public Washrooms: At Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens (5.3 km) & Jack Darling Memorial Park (9 & 12.3 km)

    Description

    Join me for an easy going ramble from the front gates of Glendon College to Taylor Creek Park at Victoria Park Avenue. We will take in the Glendon Forest, Sunnybrook Park, E.T. Seton Park and Taylor Creek Trail. We will stick to the less well trodden paths close to the Don West Creek, avoiding the heavily trafficked paved route. It is better shaded and fewer cyclists.

    Registration for this event opens on July 17th.

    An early departure to avoid the worst heat of the day and you’ll have the afternoon and evening free.

    As a bonus, if some want to continue we can do an additional 2.5 km along Taylor Creek east of Victoria Park, ending at Warden Subway Station. You can decide when we reach the subway at Victoria Park.

    Washrooms: A surprising number of washrooms are open along this route between Sunnybrook and Dawes Road just a little east of Victoria Park.

    What to bring: At least 2 litres of water, snacks and sun protection. Mosquitoes were active in the area last time I went through and we do pass some marshy areas.
