We will walk North on the Main Trail on Dunby Road, Map 18, 68.0KM (Ed. 30) to 69.3KM and take the Hockley Heights ST for approximately 7KM until we meet the Main Trail. This is a favorite hike among former and present TBTC hike leaders with fantastic views of Lake Ontario. From Guildwood Go we will head South to Guild Park boardwalk and then turn West to pick up two parks, South Marine Park & Sylvan Park (our lunch spot) located on the bluffs. Connecting with the Doris McCarthy trail we will descend to the lake and then head East as far as Guild Park and Gardens completing the loop before returning to Guildwood Go. We will walk northwards on the Main Trail, down the Devil’s Pulpit and hiking the Ring Kiln ST, the Crows Nest ST and Trumble ST, and the Mill Pond ST returning back on the Main Trail back to the parking. Hike Leader(s): Marie-Josée Roy Click here to contact Hike Leader(s) Pace: Leisurely Terrain: Variable Distance: n/a Description Over thousands of years, the Humber and its valley provided Indigenous peoples – the Wendat (Huron), the Onondowagah (Seneca), and the Mississaugas of the Credit among others – with water, food, and shelter, and with means for travel and trade via the Toronto Passage. French explorers and traders made good use of this route and the Humber River provided a source of power for the settlers who followed. Today, the Humber valley affords much-needed recreation space for our city. Please join us and discover the history of the Toronto Passage with Lisette Mallet. Lisette is an artist, historian, nature interpreter, and project manager. A Toronto resident, she finds inspiration in her Acadian and métis roots. She’s been involved in projects such as Wild Furbearer Conservation and Management in North America, The Shared Path, the Humber River’s Canadian Heritage River designation. Her learning journey now includes traditional foodways and home remedies.

Then join us for a fantastic late fall hike at Mono Cliffs. Come and explore the great outdoors with new and old Bruce Trail friends. We’ll wonder through forests, fields and scenic lookouts. We’ll hike between 12 and 14 km at a 3.5 to 4 km/hr pace. To participate your must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You will need to show proof of vaccination to enter the bus. You must also wear a mask at all times while on the bus. To promote air exchange we will keep some windows open on the bus at all times. Please dress accordingly. Note: We may have to pay a parking fee. Cost will be split among all hikers and will be collected in cash on the bus.
