    Description

    Year of the Snake

    Wednesday, 29th January 2025 marks the beginning of the new lunar year. This year will be the Year of the Snake, the sixth of all zodiac animals. This period stands out for its wisdom, mystery, and transformation, emphasizing introspection, strategic planning, and personal growth.

    Please join us for a hike along the Mountains to Sea Greenway Trail which is an International Friendship Trail in Taiwan. https://brucetrail.org/international-friendship-trails/
    This hike requires that all participants are able to hike approx 12km at a steady pace. Please bring enough snacks, lunch and water needed for an approx 4 hour hike. We will have a morning break and a lunch break. You must bring a pair of icers and wear proper hiking boots. Please dress for the weather.
    At the end of the hike, lucky red packets will be given, with our wishes for a very Happy Lunar New Year.

    Description

    Come enjoy Princess Point in the snow. We will hike the trails of this beautiful RBG property to include Princess Point, Ginger Valley, Sassafras Trail, Caleb’s Walk and Churchill Park. Meet in the parking lot of Princess Point at 9:45 am. for a 10:00 am. start. Bring water, a snack and  poles if using. Icers may be necessary. There is a fee for parking or an RBG membership.

    Description

    Meet in the parking lot next to the Hidden Valley Park Washrooms at 9:45 for a 10:00 am start.
    This is a 10 km loop hike. Hike distance will be reduced if hiking conditions are poor. Dress appropriately for the weather and for slippery trail conditions. Bring food and water, hiking boots, and icers.
    We begin the hike by walking in a north westerly direction along Grindstone Creek on Hidden Valley Road.
    We hike local trails along the east side of Grindstone Creek and then cross Grindstone Creek when we join the BTC main trail.
    The hike will take us through Clappison (Black) Woods and ends with a walk along Lemonville Road back to our cars.

    Description

    This is a series of five winter loop hikes.  Join us for one, some or all.

    This hike will explore Hilton Falls Conservation Area on the Hilton Falls Side Trail and  Conservation Area trails.  Bring water and snacks.  Wear layers for winter conditions, bring icers and hiking poles.

    Description

    Join us in earning a Niagara End 2 End Badge starting on February 9th, 2025 for a series of 5 hikes. Each hike will be approximately 16 kms at a moderate pace.  This is suitable for intermediate to advanced hikers.

    We will be using hiker’s vehicles to shuttle between our start and end point for each hike.

    Proper hiking boots and icers are a must!  Bring hiking poles, food/snacks, water, hat, and rainwinter gear.

    Arrive at 9:00am for roll call/check in/drive to the starting point.  Hike will start at 9:30 am sharp

    It is important to complete each section within a time frame to consider the shorter days.

    Hikers will receive their Stain Glass End to End badge upon completion.

    If you must miss a day but can make it up before the last scheduled hike, you will still qualify for the badge.

    Please, no children/dogs. All logistics/scheduling/start/stop and parking (shared cost if there is a fee)and a hike leader to guide you, is included.

    Please join us for this easy, semi urban walk along Joshua Creek in southeast Oakville. Please meet at 9:45 am. in the Maplegrove Plaza, (corner of Cornwall Road and Maplegrove Rd.) near the Rexall Drug Store. We will follow Joshua Creek down to Lake Ontario and back. Bring water, a snack and icers in case of snowy, icy trails.

    Meet where Powerline Road East dead ends at edge of Dundas Valley Conservation Area  -Travel east on Powerline Rd  from Hwy 52   -there is free parking at the cul de sac-look for the Hydro Tower!

    We will hike Headwaters Trail to Martin Road and follow the old road now a path to Mineral Springs and loop back on the

    rail trail and Gravel Pit Road to the Headwaters Trail and our vehicles at the end of Power Line Road E

    Hilly sections, bring Icers/ snack/ water/poles /appropriate clothing for the weather conditions

    Hike the west end of the Dundas Valley Conservation Area.
    We will enter the Conservation Area from Martin Road in Ancaster and then hike the Headwaters Trail loop and back to our cars.

    There is one to two feet of snow on the trails. If you have them, bring snowshoes so that you can help pack down the trail. Otherwise, hiking boots and icers are required.
    Bring a lunch and beverage.
    No dogs please.

    The Hamilton Soupfest supports Living Rock Youth Centre.  $20 for 4 soup samples. Ticket can be bought at the event or online in advance at https://www.livingrock.ca/soupfest

    After soup and voting we will walk back to our cars as a group or individually.

    We will walk up the Chedoke Radial Trail and into the Iroquoia Heights Conservation Area.  We will then loop back and follow the Scenic Drive Side Trail along the top of the escarpment and down either the Dundurn or Chedoke (Leader’s choice) escarpment stairs to the golf course parking lot.   Bring water and icers, in case they are needed.     I will be leaving on time at 10:00 am.  In case of bad weather I will cancel the hike and notify you by email the evening before.  Please check your email.  If you must cancel after 4:00 pm on the Tuesday, please use contact information I will send on the Tuesday.  Please arrive by 9:45 am,  I will be leaving on time.

    Description

    We will walk to the end of St Helena Rd. Hike the BT main trail north to the Al Shaw Side Trail. Take forest trails to the Tirion Tract and the BT main trail.
    Depending on the time and trail conditions, we can extend the hike along the edge of the escarpment to the McKague Easement and then hike back to the cars via the BT main trail.
    Dress appropriately for the weather. We can expect to see snow on the trails. The trail has rocky sections. Hiking boots and icers are required.
    Bring a snack & beverage.
    No dogs please.
    Departure Time: arrive at 9:15 for a 9:30AM departure.
