    River and Ruin with Loop

    Description

    Hike will start at 9:30 behind Kilbride Public School at the park.

    We will hike the side trail to River and Ruin and then the loop, seeing the new Dan Welsh plaque and bird house and also the ruin. It is approx 8.5 km.

    Please bring water and snack.

    Location (Google Maps): St. Helena Road at Highway 25 just north of 10 Sideroad. As you head north from the 401 in Milton turn left at St. Helena Road. We will park at that location then shuttle to Kelso Summit to start the hike. Closest km is km 9.7 on BTC Map 12.

    Distance: 17 kms

    Description

    Join us for 17 km shuttle hike along the Main Trail from Kelso to Speyside.  We will be up high on the escarpment with a good view of Toronto and points south.  In fact, breathtaking lookouts will abound!  The hike will be a touch rocky in sections but nothing to worry about.  There will be crevices and cliffs so caution required.  Please bring 2L  of water minimum, a snack, a lunch, bug spray, sunscreen a keen appreciation of nature and a smile.  Please arrive at Helena Road at 8:45 am to be ready to shuttle at 9.  A reservation may be required with Conservation Halton depending on the number of hikers who sign up.  I will email registered hikers closer to the time in order to arrange that if required.  A Conservation Halton Annual Membership is highly recommended.
