We will hike along the Grand River in Kitchener along the Walter Bean Trail.Cell: 519-222-4040, on day of hike. At other times, email is the best way to contact me (use the Contact the Hike Leader feature on the BTC web page). Wear appropriate quick-dry clothing and hiking boots. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent (summer), icers (winter), snacks, lunch, a personal first aid kit , and 1-2 litres of water. During COVID, also bring hand sanitizer and a face mask. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early.
If you are unable to attend, in addition to cancelling on the BTC hikes web page, please email me the day before, or text me if it is <2 hours before the hike. There is often a waiting list, so the more advance notice you give, the better.

Distance: Approx. 9-10 km.Description
Join in for a ramble around the trails of Crawford Lake Conservation Area, including the boardwalk around the lake and perhaps some snowshoe trails. A visit to the Iroquois Village is optional. Learn about some of the history of Crawford Lake. See great views from the lookout. Bring water, a snack, and poles if using. Icers may be necessary. A reservation is required. (Done through Halton Conservation Authority.)

This is a beginner level hike as mostly flat and approximately 6 kms at a moderate pace-So if you would like a Winter Stroll- meet at Westfield Village parking lot-free to HCA passholders-$15.50 per carload if not a memberWe will hike around the back of the village through the forest and over the covered bridge to the train station and then do a circular hike through the sugar bush and Westfield trails returning back through the main street of the pioneer village

Join us for a lovely winter walk in the snow through the Speyside woods. We will hike a number of side trails and the Main Trail connecting them all. Happily, much of the land we will pass through is owned by the Bruce Trail Conservancy. Money well spent. Please bring icers, mitts, two hot drinks, a snack, a lunch and a smile. Be prepared to be serenaded. Uncle Phill will be joining us. Don’t forget to bring your own first aid kit and to review the BTC website in terms of winter hiking generally and what should be in your backpack.
