  • Lynn Valley Trail, Simcoe to Port Dover and back

    Terrain: Easy – Mostly flat and usually good footing
    Distance: 20 km

    Description

    We will hike on the Lynn Valley Trail to Port Dover for lunch (fish and chips anyone?), then hike back to our cars. In memory of Mickey Macdonald, who lead this enjoyable hike the first time I did it.

Wear appropriate quick-dry clothing and hiking boots. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent (summer), icers (winter), snacks, lunch, a personal first aid kit, and 1-2 litres of water. During COVID, also hand sanitizer and a face mask. Please email me at least 24 hours before the hike to register. Sometimes last minute changes are made to hikes; registering means you won’t be waiting around the meeting place not knowing why no-one else is there! For personalized driving directions, just copy and paste the GPS coordinates into a Google search window and voila!

    Meet at the North West corner of the parking lots adjacent to Mountain Brow Blvd. We’ll follow blue trails past Buttermilk and Albion Falls then main trail to Felkers.Lunch at the falls.     Description

    This 6 km. loop hike is shorter as we (I) ease back into hiking.  We will wander along the River and Ruin side trails and explore this section of the trail BTC secured last year.  Thank you donors!

    Description

    This hike uses a combination of blue and main Bruce Trail to explore this lovey area, some of it set on the Bennett Heritage Farm. There are areas of rocky terrain with hills, lovely creeks and farm land. Afterwards you can have a closer look at the farm and its history. Bring water, a snack or lunch, hand sanitizer and a mask. This hike is open to BTC members only and you must pre-register. Once you have registered you will receive a list of items to bring. Suitable for determined beginners.

    Explore the hidden trails in Westfield Village. We will walk through the Historical Village as well as a trail system behind the village.  Please bring water and a snack or lunch to eat in the park. Bug spray is also recommended.     Description

    This 6km leisurely hike will take us down into the Bronte Creek/Cedar Springs Valley and around the River and Ruin side trail. Please note that the climb out of the valley does include some strenuous hills. Please remember to bring water, a snack, a mask and hand sanitizer. Bug repellent and sunscreen may also be necessary. NOTE: Current Covid-19 Protocol will be in full effect and no sharing will be allowed.

    Description

    Come and enjoy an easy hike over easy terrain in the Halton Agreement Forest. This expansive area is located between Fourth Line Nassagaweya and Sixth Line Nassagaweya. It has easy hiking trails and many biking trails. Bring a snack, water, insect repellent and sunscreen. Social distancing in place. To get to the meet point take Guelph Line north to Tenth Side Road. Turn right and follow the road to where it turns north onto Fourth Line. Follow it to the small parking lot on the right. There is plenty of roadside parking. Hike starts at 10:00 am.

    Description

    Join us for this “lollipop” hike. We will hike straight in, do a loop and then return by the same trail. The leaves are beginning to turn so we should get some good views and photographs. Take Guelph Line north of the 401 and the small parking lot is on your right, across from the Mohawk Woodbine Casino/Racetrack. Overflow parking in the northeast corner of the casino, right across the road from the entrance to the forest. Some rocky sections. Bring a snack and water. You must be a member and pre-register. Once registered you will receive confirmation and Covid protocols.
