IBTC asked The Movement in Dundas to present a free seminar to our members with tips on how to get ready to get back on the trail. If you have questions about fitness or some pain you’ve experienced hiking please have them ready for the for the webinar, or email them to BTC Hike Leader Bron Tregunno brontreg@cogeco.ca or professional physiotherapist Don at info@themovementpts.ca Don is a BTC member and very active hiker. The webinar will be live on Zoom on Wed May 27th at 6:30 pm with this link https://zoom.us/j/91876395376 . Once you cut and paste the link into your browser you’ll be given instructions on how to use it. Please do this a few minutes before the meeting starts and put your microphone on mute. If you don’t want to be seen you can set your video to no picture. The meeting will be about 20 min long with 20 for questions. All are welcome so please feel welcome to invite fellow walkers and hikers.
Here is some information from the group presenting the seminar:
” We are The Movement, 3 physiotherapists who are opening up in Dundas in the near future! Beyond our extensive clinical practice, we have been applying ourselves as educators and connectors in the broader physiotherapy field for the past 3 years. But we want to impact the local community, which led us to the Movement. As clinicians, we are very passionate about movement and understanding each individual when it comes to dealing with their pain and injury. All three of us are active hikers, backpackers, cyclists and general lovers of the outdoors and we believe that the more people can understand their own bodies, the more empowered they can be to take control of their health and continue doing the things they love (Hiking) without limitation.Staying strong for getting back to hiking is going to be a discussion of the general demands of hiking on the trails we love so much and the rationale for doing specific home exercises along with a structured fitness walking routine to ensure your safe and seamless return to the trails when social distancing measures are eased. We will also be providing videos of the recommended exercises to stay strong in the comfort of your home along with a recommended 8 week plan to follow.”
