    For those looking to enjoy some winter hiking or to complete Iroquoia E2E and achieve their Winter badge, I have planned 6 Monday hikes.     General Brock Side Trail - Niagara Blue Side Trail Series

    Description

    The longest of the blue side trails in Niagara, we will hike it twice for a distance of 26km. Participation is unlimited as the terrain is flat and for the most part, asphalt. Parking is plentiful but please carpool to our meeting location if possible. Please register for this hike in the event it must be cancelled/postponed due to weather conditions.

    Description

    Meet in the upper parking lot of Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area located on the west side of Appleby Line just north of Derry Road.
    Bring a snack/lunch and water. Icers may be necessary. Parking fee if effect or Conservation Area pass. Join us for a hike down into the canyon. Weather and conditions permitting we can hike over to Crawford Lake Interpretive Centre. Map 11.

    Crawford Lake Conservation Area Hike

    Description

    Meet at the lower parking lot at Crawford Lake CA at 8:45 AM for a 9AM start.  We’ll hike for about 2.5 hours.  The hike entry system might have time incorrect!! .  Fees apply if you do not have a pass.   If you have a BTC membership you’ll get a discount on your pass.  We’ll aim to meet at the lower parking lot but if it is very icy we’ll meet at upper parking lot.  Trails can be very icy this time of year.  ICERS REQUIRED. You get a discount at HIkers Haven in Oakville and Adventure Attic in Dundas if you have a BTC membership.  Poles recommended.  Wear good boots & layers. Bring snack and water.   If very cold bring a warm beverage.  Trail centre will be open after our hike at 10AM.  Pit washroom available at lower parking lot.  We’ll explore some of the Bruce Side Trail and go down into the valley towards Rattlesnake point and back up along the main trail that runs along the escarpment.  Can be very muddy in warmer weather but we’ll take it slow.   We’ll adjust route if needed.   Please come early at 8:45 AM to sign up so we can get on trail by 9AM.  Hike will take about 2.5 hr.  Contact Bron for more information brontreg@cogeco.ca cell with text 905-334-4013 (leave message) home 905-637-7136.   Cancelled is weather makes it dangerous for driving.  Check this page to confirm or email me.

    (Postponed from January 11/20)

    This hike is in celebration of what would’ve been Dan Welsh’s 72nd birthday. It is hoped that we can remember him each year in this manner.

    Park at the Dundas Valley Conservation Centre at 650 Governor’s Rd, Dundas. Meet at the Trail Centre. We will hike to Sherman Falls and back. Please bring icer’s to wear in case the trail is icy. There will be a complimentary Coke and donut following the hike.  Please register for this hike so we will know how many to expect. There is a possibility of cancellation if we have inclement weather and/or if the driving conditions are too bad.
