    Description

This is a special walk in conjunction with City of Hamilton to celebrate George Hamilton Day. Its a very gentle pace and the shorter walk is suitable for families with children six and up. Frequent stops to talk about the history of the Federated Women’s Institute of Ontario and the first meeting held in the museum on Feb 19th, 1897.  Janet Lee, granddaughter of founders Erland & Janet Lee was a long time BTC member and walked the trail twice.   This is a linear path and we will be crossing Ridge Road and taking the Dewitt Road access point.  There will be buses available at the Jones St (4 Km walk) and Lewis St (6 Km walk) to take walkers back to Erland Lee Museum for a free tour and refreshments.  Participants will receive a special Aug 3rd, George Hamilton Day crest. We will meet at the museum at 8:30 to set up the two groups.  Option to return back along same route if you want a longer walk.  Wear good hiking boots as the trail is very rocky.  Bring sunscreen and be prepared for biting insects like mosquitoes and ticks.   Bring water and snacks for the walk.  Light lunch will be provided by the City of Hamilton for this very special event.
