Join us on a 17 km loop hike of the many Side Trails of Scotsdale Farm. There will be the traces of a railway from Toronto to Guelph hidden in the bush. There will be a pit, a reservoir, a quarry, three streams, and perhaps a salamander or two. The area is carpeted with leaves and some Fall colours remain too. Please bring a warm drink, water, a snack, a smile and an appreciation of nature. Boardwalks and bridges will be slippery. Extra caution required. Hiking boots mandatory. Join us as we recreate this series to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tuesday hiking and recognize the pioneers who started it all.Hike 8 takes us through woods and open fields north, then east to Centre Rd parking. We will car shuttle from Centre Rd back to Prince of Wales and 20 Sideroad parking.

Please join us on the first of three shuttle hikes taking in the beautiful Dufferin section. We will meet in Kilgorie then shuttle up to near Lavender to start our hike on the main trail taking in Black Bank, the BTC’s new property at Honeywood Ridge, and then south on the Prince of Wales Road. Please dress in layers for the cooler weather now, and bring a smile, a warm drink, 1.5L of water, a snack and a lunch. Hiking boots mandatory. Poles recommended. Please arrive at 9:15 to be ready to shuttle at 9:30 sharp. Please bring a change of footwear and a garbage bag for the shuttle. - 12November 12, 2024

You are registering for the following nine Sundays and one Saturday of this 2024-2025 hike series led by TBTC guest hike leader Monica Pasquali: November 17, December 15, January 12, March 2 (hike rescheduled from February due to snowstorm), March 23 (hike rescheduled from March 16 due to high winds and flooding risk), May 25, June 22, July 13 (hike rescheduled from April due to ice storm damage clean-up), August 24, and September 20 (hike rescheduled from July 27 due to excessive heat).
Hikers must strive to complete all ten hikes with the leader. Hikers are permitted to miss three of the ten hikes due to unforeseen circumstances; if this happens, they will make up the hike(s) on their own so they can still qualify for the badge. Please keep a log of the missed hike(s) and give it to the leader on the last day of the series.
The fee for this hike series goes towards supporting the Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Club, which in turn supports the mission of the Bruce Trail Conservancy in “preserving a ribbon of wilderness, for everyone, forever”.
This hike is intended to be leisurely/moderate (approximately 3 km/h). Please, register only if you are capable of sustaining this pace over varied/rocky terrain for a distance of 10-11 km.
We will NOT be doing car shuttles so that families (with already-full cars!) can participate. All of the hikes in this series will be out-and-back hikes.
You should wear sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing for the weather, and ensure you bring your ID cards and enough water and food for the entire hike.

Join us for a pre-Social hike taking in the South Outlier Loop and Laidlaw Side Trails by way of warm-up to the main event. Location (Google Maps):Dufferin Hi-land. Map 20. Meet at roadside parking on Prince of Wales Rd. (County Rd. 19) where the Primrose Loop Side Trail crosses Prince of Wales Rd. From Primrose (intersection of Hwy 10 and 89) drive north for about 1.5 km. Parking is about 0.7 km north of the bridge on the east side of the road.

We will hike the Primrose Loop Side Trail on the west side of Prince of Wales Rd. Then, after crossing the road and returning to the cars, we will head toward the Main Trail where we will turn left towards Murphy’s Pinnacle, climb to the top and take in the view. We will then return to Prince of Wales Rd. The short hike will end after completing the Primrose Loop Side Trail.Icers may be needed and hiking poles are recommended. Bring water and snacks.
