Beaver Valley End to End Series, Hike 1 of 7

Hosting Club: Dufferin Hi-Land

Location (Google Maps): Beaver Valley Section, Maps 27 and 28. Meet at intersection of Sideroad 22C and 3rd Line C (Km 97.1). Take Grey Rd 4 north from Flesherton, left onto Grey Rd 13, then left onto Grey Rd 7 (Eric Winkler Parkway). Turn right onto Sideroad 19 at Epping, then left onto 3rd Line C. Park at intersection with Sideroad 22C.

Description

This is the first in a 7 part series covering the Beaver Valley Section. Today we will shuttle back to Blantyre (km 114.3) and hike through old cedar and hardwood forests, past deep crevices, over a waterfall and up and down the escarpment a few times.  Bring snacks lunch and water.

Spring Wildflower Hike - Oliver Creek and Walker's Woods

Location (Google Maps): Dufferin Hi-Land Section, Map 20. Meet at roadside parking where the 2nd Line ECL Side Trail starts (and the road ends, about .7 km past Km 23.9). From Hwy 89, take 1st Line EHS north to 8 Sideroad. Turn right/east and follow around the bend onto 2nd Line.

Distance: 3 km

Loop hike. Oliver Creek Side Trail and Main Trail through Walker’s Woods. Pace will allow time to take pictures.  We will explore and identify the blooming wildflower along the trail. Bring a camera, snacks and water.

Humber Valley Heritage Trail

Location (Google Maps): Meet in roadside parking on Castlederg Rd just west of the bridge. From Hwy 50, turn west on Castlederg Rd. for 2.1 km.

We will explore the Heritage Trail along the Humber River in Caledon.

Location (Google Maps): Meet on east side of Winners/Party City building (Hwy 10 & 4th Ave) at 9:00am or HVTA parking lot on west side of Emil Kolb Parkway, approximately 2 km west of Hwy 50 and 2 km south of Castlederg Rd at 9:30am.

Beaver Valley End to End Series, Hike 2 of 7

Hosting Club: Dufferin Hi-Land

Location (Google Maps): Beaver Valley Section, Map 27. Meet  at off road parking on Sideroad 7A at the top of the hill, behind the ski lifts (Km 81.0). From Hwy 10, just west of Flesherton, turn right/north on Grey County Rd 32 (Beaver Valley Rd). Road number changes to County Rd 30, then 7th Line. Continue north, then turn right/east and drive about 1.2 km to the sharp bend. Look for entrance to parking on your left/north.

We will shuttle back to parking at Side Road 22C and 3rd Line C (Km 97.1) We will start the day hiking up to Grey Rd 7 then through a bird sanctuary and around a beaver pond,l continuing along the escarpment and finishing at the top of the Talisman ski hill. Bring snacks, lunch and water.

Mono Cliffs North
