Description

We will shuttle back to 12th Sideroad (Km 18.4), then hike north and east, up and down the escarpment, passing several ski hills and beautiful farm fields, with views of Georgian Bay, reaching the top of the escarpment above Blue Mountains for our grand finale at the border with Blue Mountains Section.

Location (Google Maps): Parking: Drive south from Mono Mills (Hwy #9 and Airport Rd) for 3Km. Turn east on to Coolihans SR. and travel 1.1Km. At this point the Bruce Trail crosses Coolihans SR. (there are signs on both sides of the road). Park at the side of the road (Coolihans SR.). Meet in this road side parking.

Humber Valley Heritage Trail

Location (Google Maps): We will meet at the large paved parking lot for the Humber Valley Heritage Trail, located along the Emil Kolb Parkway. This is about 2 km. west of Highway 50 and 2 km. south of Castlederg Road, in the Town of Caledon. Look for the sign for Duffy’s Lane. Use Caledon, not Kleinburg, to put in GPS coordinates.

We will car shuttle to begin the hike at the northern terminus of the Humber Valley Heritage Trail, then hike through a variety of terrain back to the initial meeting point.  Bring water, lunch and sturdy footwear.

Description

Meet  at the upper end of the Old Ancaster Inn north side parking lot (per directions below). From there make our way to the top of Dundas Valley and back, taking in the lovely hamlet of Mineral Springs and a number of  rolling  trails throughout the conservation  area.   Also look forward to the last of Fall colours in the area.

DIRECTION:  From Hwy 403 going west up the escarpment past Hamilton,  take Exit 64   following Mohawk/Rousseau road north. Turn right on Wilson St, continuing for 0.75 km  to the next traffic light.  Turn left on Montgomery Dr, then another left on Old Dundas Road.  The parking lot is on the right hand (North) side of the road,  about 75 m past the Old Ancaster Inn.
