We will share info about the village. Our hike follows Owl Creek with a scenic break spot. Long hike will return via the Maureen Smith Side Trail and then the Main Trail – the short hike will return directly to the parking lot via the Bennet Side Trail. Please bring water and a lunch.

A chance to work on your Peninsula Orchid badges if you are a badge person. These hikes, led by longtime BTC wildflower enthusiasts Anne Armstrong and Jeannine Kralt, are a co-operative effort brought to you by the Peninsula, Iroquoia and Dufferin Hi-Lands BTC Clubs. We look forward to enjoying the camaraderie and fellowship of staying at the same accommodations and sharing a few laughs at dinners. Please bring your own breakfasts and lunches. We will hike along the Ganaraska trail until we come out on Concession Road 8 in Glen Huron. Just past station Street we will turn west and follow the Mad River Side Trail until we rejoin the main trail. From there we will hike back to the cars. Please be prepared for the weather, we will hike rain or shine. Ensure you have enough water,lunch and snacks, sunscreen and bug repellent. Hats and sunglasses are recommended as are poles and sturdy shoes. Be part of the ongoing monitoring and maintenance program. Volunteers will assist DHBTC Biodiversity Committee members and Bruce Trail Conservancy Ecologists with mulching and replacing tree guards. We will also be examining trees to help determine survival rates. Some invasive species removal may also occur. If time permits, a short hike of the area will occur. Please bring water and gloves if you have them. It is recommended you dress according to the weather and wear sturdy boots or shoes and long pants as ticks are possible in the area. All other equipment will be provided.

Hike Leader(s): Tristan Goguen and Pat Foley Click here to contact Hike Leader(s) Pace: Medium Terrain: Moderate Distance: Short Hike 8.63 Longer hike 12.45 Description Today we will hike south bound on the main trail from the parking are to where the main trail intersects with the Pine River Valley Side Trail. We will hike the Pine River Valley side trail to the second intersection with the Carl Alexander Side Trail. Take the Carl Alexander Side Trail back to the Pine River Valley Side trail then proceed back to the main trail. From there we will hike south bound to the Bell Look out side Trail, enjoy the view then return to the main trail to continue hiking south bound past the Pine River Fishing area and then along the river . We will the cross River Road and pick up the Kilgore side Trail on the north side and return to the main trail and the parking lot. Total distance to this point is approximately 8.63 Km. For enthusiasts we can continue north bound on Prince of Wales Rd from the parking are to the intersection with the Melodonna Side Trail. From there we will follow the side trail back to the main trail and return to the cars. With the added distance the total would be 12.45 km. Please be prepared for the weather, we will hike rain or shine. Ensure you have enough water,lunch and snacks, sunscreen and bug repellent. Hats and sunglasses are recommended as are poles and sturdy shoes. We will take a short break here to admire the valley then return on the main trail to 1st Line where we will pick up the Boyne Valley Side Trail southbound on 1st Line. The side trail eventually heads into the woods and back to the main trail . From this junction we will hike north bound on the main trail with an opportunity to cross the Boyne River before climbing out of the valley. We will take a break at the top of Murphy’s Pinnacle to enjoy lunch and the view before heading back to the parking area. Please be prepared for the weather, we will hike rain or shine.
