    Description

    Please join us for a Dufferin Hi-Land annual tradition – a New Year’s Day hike at Mono Cliffs Provincial Park and its environs.  What better way to start the New Year?  We have three hikes planned – long, medium and short.  This hike is the long one at 17 kms.  The short and medium hikes run by longstanding club members Bryan and Carol Foley and Les Babbage will be posted separately for separate sign-up.  All three hikes will end back at Mono Centre at 3:15 pm or so for seasonal refreshments and good cheer.  We really hope you can make it.  Please dress in warm layers for the weather.  Icers and hiking boots are a must.  Poles recommended.  Please also bring a smile as always, a warm drink, some water, a snack and a lunch.  Please arrive at 9:15 am to be ready to hike at 9:30 am.

    Description

    Join us for a “day after the night before” hike to clear your head with a little exercise, fresh air and great company. Options for a short (4.8 km) or medium (7.5 km) hike. A longer hike is also available by separate registration (See BTC Hike Schedule for details).

    Hot beverages and snacks available after the hike. Contributions to the snack table welcome!

    Snow shoes or icers may be required, depending on conditions. Contact the hike leaders if in doubt.

    Description

    Join us for a walk in the woods from Scotsdale Farm to Limehouse taking in the main trail and some side trails.  There will be snow on the ground so please make sure you have your icers on.  Please bring a smile, a warm drink, some water, a snack and a lunch.  This is a shuttle hike so please be prepared to drive other hikers and please bring a garbage bag and change of footwear for drive at the end of the hike.

    We will hike the Main Trail to Airport Road, returning by way of Hockleycrest Side Trail. The shorter hike will take Hockley Hollow, Hockleycrest and Harmony Side Trails.  Bring icers, poles and snack. Snowshoes may be helpful, depending on the conditions.

    Join us on a 16.7 km shuttle hike taking in Tews Falls, Borer’s Falls and the Great Falls at Smokey Hollow.  They will look fantastic encased in ice.  Great time of year.  Entry fee at Tews Falls.  If you have a Hamilton Conservation pass please let me know so that I can plan who parks where.  Icers, hiking boots and rudimentary common sense mandatory.  Poles recommended.  Please bring a warm drink, water, a snack, a lunch and a smile.  Hike will be cancelled if Trump invades.  Please enlist immediately to defend our great country.

    Location (Google Maps): Second Line and 15 Sideroad in Mulmur Ontario. From Orangeville, head north on hwy #10 to hwy #89. Turn left and head west to county road #124. Turn right and head north to 15 Sideroad. Turn right and follow to 2nd line. Parking is on the east side of 2nd Line, just north of 15 Sideroad. Do not try and come across 15 sideroad from east to west. It is a snowmobile trail at this time of the year.

    Description

    We will be exploring the winter wonders that the Pine River Nature Reserve offers during the winter.

    This is a snowshoe hike so please be sure to bring your snowshoes.  Should the weather not behave and snow is not in abundance, we will still do the hike but icer’s would be recommended in this case as there is sure to still be icy patches within the reserve.

    Bring snowshoes, icer’s, mitts, hats, food, and dress according to the weather.

    We will meet at the roadside parking on Dunby Rd, and hike south along the Main Trail for 2.5 km. We will then follow the Cam Snell Side Trail loop (2 km), and return on the Main Trail. For those wishing a shorter hike, return to the parking before the Side Trail (4 km). Please come prepared for the weather. Snowshoes or icers may be needed.  Hiking poles are recommended. Bring snack and water.
