    Description

    Starting at Beaver Valley section km 27.9, we will follow the white blazed trail west toward Duncan Crevice Caves Provincial Nature Reserve. At km 32.6 we will take the Chuck Grant Side Trail to create a loop. This unique and wonderful hike includes a wide variety of terrain, two bridge crossings of Mill Creek, two climbs and descents of the escarpment, all with spectacular views from Metcalfe and Pinnacle Rocks. Optional descents and climbs into the Metcalfe and Duncan Crevices, weather and grip permitting. Bring a snack or lunch and water.

    Description

    Park at Morningstar Mill and take Morningstar ST until it reaches the Main trail. Go left on the Main trail, down
    the escarpment and cross over Laura Secord Bridge. Continue on Main Trail until you reach Black Walnut Side Trail. Take Black Walnut Side Trail and continue until it rejoins the Main trail at km 37.8. Continue on trail which is also called the Rim of Africa Friendship Trail until it reaches the Black Walnut Trail, forming a loop. Retrace the path along the Main Trail back to where it reaches Morningstar Side Trail. Take Side Trail back to car.

    Participate in all 9 scheduled hikes in the NBTC Side Trail Challenge or hike the side trails on your own. Submit your photos to collect the NBTC Side Trail badge.

    Location (Google Maps): Park on the south side of Euphrasia St Vincent Townline, Km 111.0 Map 28 Edition 31. Ensure that you are off the pavement, the shoulder is wider a bit east of where the trail crosses.

    Description

    This hike takes us through a long stretch of forest protected by the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority and by the BTC. There are some crevices in rock to be seen here. A good walk in the woods. This is the last hike in the Wednesday Walks series for 2023.

    Description

    Meet at Dundurn Park parking lot, lot farthest from Dundurn Castle. We will walk toward Princess Point via stairs, then a bit of trails there. Some flat trail and some easy hills. Good views. Bring icers for potential winter conditions. Dress in layers adequate for weather, wear hiking boots, bring water and snack. Up to day before hike contact by email.
