    Difficulty:

    Join us for an awesome day of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at Kawartha Nordic. Snowshoers: Experienced snowshoers join Wayne for a guided level II snowshoe hike. Alternatively, explore the resort’s trails on your own. Skiers: Glide through a beautiful mixed-wood forest on the Canadian Shield on trails groomed for classic and skate skiing. Warm-up in trail-side cabins. Ski and showshoe rentals available. No food services. Please pack lunch and enough water for the day.

    Description

    A Loop Hike. We will carpool to km 29.4 of the Dufferin
    Section and snowshoe east to km 26.9. here we start our
    loop hike before returning to the parking lot via the main
    trail. This is very hilly country but with beautiful views.
    Bring lunch and beverages.

    Description

    Enjoy a fresh peaceful Sunday morning in the Waterdown Woods on the brow of the Escarpment with great views of Hamilton Harbour  and the hopefully ice-encrusted Great Falls.  We will descend the Grindstone Creek Valley before climbing the Norman Pearson Side Trail back to the Main Trail.  We will also take in the King, Kerncliff Park and Ian Reid Side Trails.  There will be plenty of ups and downs and most likely some packed snow and ice.  Please bring your icers, a warm drink and a snack.  Optional refreshment stop after.  Please pre-register at stuarthikes@gmail.com so that I can get an idea of numbers and let you know if the hike has to be cancelled for any reason.  Thank you.

    GO Transit has a $10 Sunday Unlimited Travel Pass offer until Feb 9th. Ticket must be purchased online and activated on your mobile device. We will take the train to Burlington and transfer to the GO Bus to Stoney Creek. From the bus stop we hike to and through Battlefield Park and conditions permitting towards the Devil’s Punchbowl. Nearby the bus stop is Clifford Brewing, Brewery Of The Year at the Canadian Brewing Awards. Icers essential and mandatory. Please pre-register so you may be notified if changes in plans are necessary.

    Meet Union Station’s Great Hall by the information desk (with the clock and Via rail departure information above) at 9:15 to proceed to the train at 9:30.

    While Hilton Falls in winter is known for its skiing it also has good hiking, especially this year with little to no snow. Meet in the parking lot of Hilton Falls Conservation area at 10:15 am. for a 10:30 am. start. We will explore the trails, including the Falls. Bring water, a snack and icers.     Description

    Starting at the GSCA office we will hike/snowshoe on the main Bruce trail, the Pines Loop, the Keeling Side Trail to Inglis Falls and return along the main trail via a different route.

    Bring snacks and water. Snowshoes will be needed and hiking poles are recommended for a few sections.  Approximately  2.5 to 3 hours. Map 32
