    Driving Directions:
    From Hwy #10 north of Orangeville, turn east on Hockley Road.
    Drive for 1.1 km.
    Continue straight onto Side Road 5 for 1.6 km.
    Turn left onto 1st Line EHS for 900 metres.
    Continue straight into the parking lot.

    FYI, there is an outhouse in the parking lot.

    ***DO NOT take 1st Line EHS south from Hockley Road. It is NOT maintained. Google Maps may suggest this impassable route.

    Description

    Whether using an expensive camera or a cell phone, Splitrock Narrows offers excellent opportunities to view and photograph spring flowers. We’ll take some time to discuss how to make the best of your photography. Be prepared to get your knees dirty. You do not have to be an expert photographer to enjoy this slow paced nature walk.

    Distance: 11.5 km

    Description

    Hike the south side of Hockley Valley on the Main Trail, Hemlock Ridge, Griffin Ravine and Glacier Valley Side Trails. This is a very hilly but beautiful section of trails.

    Hopeful that the trilliums and other spring wildflowers will provide some colour as we make our way up and down the hills.

    Bring your choice of hydration and snacks. We will have short water breaks along with one longer snack break. Be sure to have sun, and bug protection with you. Hiking boots required. Hiking Poles suggested.

This is just west of the intersection of Glen Haffy Road and Coolihans Sideroad (even though the GPS coordinates are showing just to the east).     Description

    Looking to get out on a Saturday but not give up your whole day? Saturday Shorts, a hiking series, will get you out in a small group on a short hike. This Saturday’s hike is at Glen Haffy. We’ll hike the main Bruce Trail and conservation trails to make an approximately 6 km route. The pace will be leisurely in parts, so you can take a moment to enjoy the carpet of spring flowers and listen for the Pileated woodpeckers. Consider the following as you prepare for the hike: a hat, insect repellent, sunscreen, hiking boots/shoes, poles. You are encouraged to bring water and a snack as there will be a short break. No dogs please. You can expect a reminder/update message one or two days before the hike.

    Description

    We will follow the Headwaters trail through Mineral Springs forest  until we connect to the rail trail.  We will follow the rail trail to the Dundas Trail Centre where we will have lunch and washroom break.  After lunch we will follow the Bruce trail for some time until it reconnects with the Headwater Trail.  We will follow the Headwater trail back to our start. It will be approximately 12 km and take 3 hrs.

    Description

    This Nature Walk will take place on the BTC’s beautiful Hemlock Ridges property. This is a good time of year to observe migrating birds before the leaves come out. We’ll stop regularly to listen to birds and admire spring flowers. Bring binoculars, camera  and cell phone. Cell phone apps like Merlin, Seek and iNaturalist can help in identification of flora and fauna along the route.

    Description

    Let’s rock it out and explore the geology of Splitrock Narrows. We’ll hike at a leisurely pace over the approximately 4 km route as we look at Splitrock Narrows in a whole new way. Dr. Kathy Wallace will provide an introductory-level look at the geology of the area that welcomes your curiosity. Plan on a total time out less than two hours, a short snack/water break, and having your way of engaging with the trail expanded. You may wish to consider the following in your preparation: hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, poles, water, snack, rain gear. This interactive hike was created for a small group. No dogs please.

    Join us for a 16 km hike through the Nature Reserve, known for being one of the most challenging and hilly sections of the Bruce Trail. Get ready for a workout.

    We will be hiking at a moderate-fast pace. Please bring plenty of water and snacks. HIKE BEGINS AT 8:30 AM.
