    Description

    From the parking at Zimmerman Park we will hike the 1 km to the back entrance of Mount Nemo. There is a climb up to Mount Nemo. We will encounter one fairly long and a bit challenging hike to the top, but we will be rewarded with great scenery at the top that includes the Toronto and Brampton skylines. We will hike the trail through the park, have a snack break in the quarry and then circle back to the cars. Trail conditions may be wet and muddy, and maybe slippery, poles recommended. Dress for the weather. Bring snacks/lunch/water.

The first hike will meet at the Hockley Valley Rd parking lot near Km 61.1 and then we will car shuffle north to the Mono Community Centre parking lot and hike back to the cars.     Description

    This spring we are going to hike the Caledon Hills section of the trail in a series of shorter and slower paced hikes. My days of hiking 15 km or more a day are well behind me. I wanted to hike this section in the spring time hoping to see some interesting spring ephemerals. This series of hikes will provide an opportunity for others to work towards the Badlands Stained Glass Badge over 8 hikes.
    The first hike will meet at the Hockley Road Parking Area just east of 61.1 km on the north side of the road. Then we will car shuffle north to the Mono Community Centre parking lot and start our hike going south.
    To receive the badge you will need to register for all 8 hikes. Details for each hike will be shared in a reminder email to all registered hikers prior to the hikes. A paper copy of the hike series will be available at the meeting point of the first hike

    Earn the Cheltenham Badlands Stained Glass/Fundraiser badge, which is part of the collectable Bruce Trail Clubs stained glass-themed fundraiser set. Hike distances range from 17 km to 20 km for the 4-day end-to-end series.

    Please dress according to the weather presented that day. Bring snacks and water (electrolytes) for a long day of hike.

    This is a car shuttle hike. Please have your vehicle ready as everyone will be taking a turn to drive us all to the start point of our hike or to get our drivers back at the end of the day.

    This is a series of loop hikes exploring various BT Blue trails in wintry and early spring conditions.  Join us for one, some or all.

    Today’s hike will explore the main trail and the various side trails for an 11 km look in Mono Cliffs Provincial Park.

    Bring a snack and plenty of water, and other hydration as needed.  Wear hiking boots and bring hiking poles.  Icers may also be required.

    Please arrive at the meeting place by 8:15 am as we will leave promptly at 8:30 am.

    Description

    This series of five hikes celebrates the glorious sugar maple as we move from winter towards spring. The trails are all in or near the Caledon Hills section of the Bruce Trail and range from 7 to 10 km in length.

    Register individually for one, a few, or all of the Sweetwater Badge Hikes taking place on Mondays. Participants who complete the five hikes will be eligible to receive a Sweetwater badge. (Note: If you wish to purchase a badge, the cost is $10.00 for BTC members and $15.00 for non-members.)

    Hike 5 explores the beautiful Hockleycrest property on the Main and  Side Trails. The trail passes sap collection lines and a sugar shack. This hike has some hills and can be difficult under winter conditions.

    Bring your choice of hydration and snacks. Hiking boots and icers/crampons are required.

    Participants will be notified the night before if a hike must be cancelled due to inclement weather.

    Description

    Looking to get out on a Saturday but not give up your whole day? Saturday Shorts, a hiking series, will get you out in a small group on a short hike. This Saturday’s approximately 6 km hike takes us through Palgrave Forest. The route will be a “there-and-back” with a change-up on the way back. The trails are expected to be dry, muddy, or wet in parts. Bring water and a snack, if desired. Weather permitting, there will be a ten-minute break. No dogs please. Registrants can expect a reminder/update message one or two days before the hike. Please note the early start time as this is a very popular multi-use spot on the weekends. Most of the route is wide, but there might be times when we need to step out of the way for cyclists to pass.

    Beat the winter blues already?! Join me for a warm-up hike in preparation for your spring and warmer day hikes ahead. At a moderate to brisk pace we’ll explore (descend/ascend) the Devil’s Pulpit and nearby side trails. The pulpit calls for sturdy and comfortable hiking shoes/boots. Hiking poles are strongly recommended and bring your icers just in case. Bring your choice of hydration, snacks and lunch. Make sure you carry your health card and personal medication at all times. The pace will be slow at times with numerous stops to observe the spring ephemerals, listen to bird song and take photos. Bring your binoculars, camera and cellphone. Apps like Merlin, Seek, and iNaturalist will help identify flora and fauna along the route.

    Description

    From the parking area on Artaban Rd. we will hike the short distance to Sherman Falls. We will loop around the falls and then hike about 2 km, to Tiffany Falls. There is a short hiking trail into the Falls. From there we will return to the parking area. Total, about 5 km. There is an additional waterfall close by – Canterbury Falls which would add an additional 2.5 km to the hike. We can decide after we return from Tiffany Falls if anyone would like to hike to Canterbury Falls.

    Spring trails can be muddy and slick, poles recommended. Bring water and snacks.

    Description

    Come and join us on these 5 hikes to earn Caledon’s Stained Glass Fundraising badge, which is part of the collectable Bruce Trail Club’s stained glass themed fundraiser set. This series of 5 hikes will take place on consecutive Wednesdays, beginning April  30. Bring snacks and your choice of hydration. In early April, hike details for hikes 2 – 5, will be emailed to participants. On this first hike, please meet and be ready for an 8:30 shuttle. We’ll hike through the Badlands (which may be muddy) and the Forks of the Credit Provincial Park. Please note: in order to earn the Stained Glass badge, you may miss one hike but must make it up by the last day of the series (May 28).
