    Distance: 18 km

    Description

    Main Bruce Trail and Rockside Trail, there and back, will hike 9 km reaching into Terra Cotta and return after snack break, total 18 km. One purpose of this hike is to warm up for Toronto end-to-end hike on September 9. However, the hike is open for anyone likes to tone up the muscles.
    Bring plenty of water, snack, sunscreen and insect repellent. Poles are recommended.
    Wear sturdy shoes as parts of trail could be muddy.
    After hike, there is an optional visit to Spirit Tree Estate Cidery nearby, less than 1 km on Boston Mill Rd. for refreshments, snacks.

    Location (Google Maps): Meet at Hockley Road parking lot, north side of Hockley Rd. and east of 2nd Line EHS.
    DIRECTION: Go on Highway 410 north, this becomes Highway 10 north. After passing through Orangeville turn right on Hockley Road (7), drive about 5 km, shortly after passing 2nd Line EHS, BT parking lot is on the left.

    Terrain: Strenuous – hilly with steep climbs and some poor footing
    Distance: 12 km

    Description

    Will hike parts of Hockley Valley trails; Glen Cross, Isabel East and Tom East connected by sections of main Bruce Trail. Bring 2 litres of water and snack. Hiking poles are strongly recommended, the distance may be shortened depending on weather conditions. Pace will vary due to hilly sections.
    Bring bug spray and sun protection.
    We just want to get out and enjoy nature.

    Note: This hike is re-scheduled from August 15 (canceled due to weather) to September 5.

    This is the first hike in a series of ten. You will need to register for each hike you wish to do. We will hike from the north end of the Iroquoia Section through Kelso Conservation Area enjoying great views, around Rattlesnake Point and through the Nassagaweya Canyon to Crawford Lake Conservation Area.

    Description

    This is a loop hike going south from the Devil’s Glen parking lot on the Main Trail to the Ganaraska Trail. We will follow the Ganaraska one km to the village of Glen Huron and then return on the Mad River Side Trail to the Devil’s Glen parking. Note: Because of a re-route, this hike is about 2 km shorter than before and a bit less hilly.

    Location (Google Maps): The walk departs from Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority parking lot at km 21.9 – BTC Ref Guide, Map 22, in the Blue Mountains section. Driving directions: If proceeding north from Primrose, go west on Highway 10 & 89 (combined) to Highway 124, then north (right) on Highway 124 to Singhampton. At Singhampton, turn right following Highway 124 east and in .75 km turn right on Mill Town Rd. and an immediate left on Ewing Rd., turn left on 17/18 Side Road, right on Concession 10 South, left on 15/16 Side Road, parking lot is on your right. (Roads are clearly shown on Map 22.) $10 + HST parking fee – easy to pay ahead – go to Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority, click on Recreation, then parking fees, select on-line parking option and click on hotspot website.

    Description

    A quiet hike along the Bruce Trail through forest and under the eye of interesting Escarpment cliffs, peacefully crossing streams and then following the Nottawasaga Bluffs Lookout Trail, on and through the magical Keyhole Side Trail to rejoin the Main Trail. Lunch break at a lookout point.  After lunch we quietly continue through forest on the Main Trail to the Hamilton Brothers Side Trail and return to our start point. Hiking boots necessary for short, steep sections on and around the Keyhole Side Trail.  Please bring lunch and water.  A fine way to appreciate the first day of Autumn!

    Description

    We will hike the Bennett Heritage Trail, Main Trail, Maureen Smith and Irwin Quarry Side Trails from Scotsdale Farm to Silver Creek Conservation Area and back. The hike will start on the farm lane heading past the heritage buildings and barn at Scotsdale Farm. Most of the hike will be in the forest, at times following the edge of the escarpment with a few ups and downs and rocky sections.

    There will be stops for water breaks along the way and a longer snack / lunch break later in the hike. Bring plenty of water, lunch, sunscreen, and bug repellent. Hiking boots required, please dress appropriately for weather conditions.

    Description

    This is the fourth hike of ten. Beginning with road walking the hike goes through different forests, past Fisher’s Pond, offers views of Lake Ontario and Burlington, passes Signal Hill and through Kerncliff Park.
