    Location (Google Maps): Hockley Road parking lot on the north side of Hockley Road at the Hockley Road Side Trail.

    From ON-10 turn east onto Hockley Road/Dufferin County Road 7. Drive for 5.1 kilometres.

    Pace: Medium – 3 to 4 km/hour
    Terrain: Strenuous – hilly with steep climbs and some poor footing
    Distance: 11.5 km

    Description

    Plan to join one, a few, or all of our Frosty Five hikes. Participants who complete all five hikes will be eligible to receive the CHBTC Winter Badge on the final hike. Hike five explores parts of the main Trail and Glen Cross, Isabel East, and Tom East Side Trails in the Hockley Valley Provincial Nature Reserve/north Hockley Valley area. Bring your choice of hydration and snacks. Hiking boots and icers/crampons are required. See January 4, January 18, February 1, and February 15 for details pertaining to the other hikes in the series. (Note:  If you wish to purchase a badge, the cost is $5.00 for BTC members and $10.00 for non-members.)

    From ON-10 turn east onto Hockley Road/Dufferin County Road 7. Drive for 9.4 kilometres. Turn south/right onto 5 Line E. Drive for 100 metres.

    Description

    Although this is a rescheduled hike in a series, all are welcome to join. The hike explores parts of the main Trail and Hemlock Ridge, Griffith Ravine, and Glacier Valley Side Trails in the south Hockley Valley area. Bring your choice of hydration and snacks. Hiking boots and icers/crampons are required. If you have been working on the Caledon Hills Winter Badge throughout the season, and require a final hike to complete the badge requirements, this is a great hike to join. Badges will be available at the end of the hike ($5.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members).

    Description

    We will meet at City View Park off Kern’s Rd. in Waterdown. Please park in the second parking lot , closer to the trail. in Waterdown. We will  hike the main Trail, (most of which also doubles as the Offa’s Dyke Path, BTC Friendship Trail), to Great Falls and return. We will add in the King and Ian Reid Side Trails as we return to the parking lot.

    Bring water, snacks, icers, poles(optional)

    In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, wear something green! After the hike, for those that would like to, we will visit the Royal Coachman Pub in Waterdown; enjoy a bite to eat and wee drink to toast St. Paddy. I will make reservations for 1:30 for those that choose to come. Please email me if you will be coming to the Pub.
