    Location (Google Maps): Meet at Grey Sauble Conservation Headquarters west of km 92.9. Enter from Inglis Falls Road. Shuttle to start at Grey-Bruce Tourist Information parking lot. (km 104.4)

    Pace: Medium – 3 to 4 km/hour
    Terrain: Moderate – some hills and/or some poor footing
    Distance: From km 104.4 to 92.9 plus a bit of side trails, total distance 12 km.

    Description

    This hike skirts the western edge of Owen Sound, south to Inglis Falls and the Sydenham River and offers great views from the brow of the escarpment.

    Directions: From Airport Road turn east onto 5 Sideroad and drive for 600 metres. The parking lot is on the left hand side.

    Description

    Join with other friends of the Caledon Hills Club to hike parts of the Main Trail, Hockleycrest Side Trail, Darcy’s Side Trail, and the Tall Timbers Bruce Trail Conservancy protected natural area. Bring your choice of hydration and snacks. Sturdy footwear is highly recommended. Note: This hike can be counted towards your Caledon Hills Sideways Badge.

    Location (Google Maps): Park at Niagara Glen Nature Centre, Niagara River Parkway, parking charges apply.
    Driving directions: Take QEW to Niagara, continue on exit to Highway 405, General Brock Parkway to Lewiston-Queenston, take last exit to right before US border to Stanley Avenue (102); left on Whirlpool Rd. and left on Niagara River Parkway, you will see Whirlpool golf course on left, continue to Niagara Glen Nature Center on the right, use paying station to print and display the ticket.
    Consider carpooling with co-hikers to share the parking and / or gas cost.

    Description

    Join us on a truly adventurous hike on Niagara River, using steel stairs we will descend down to Niagara River and hike multiple trails of the Glen Trail Network. We will hike close to the roaring river on marked trails, negotiating around some boulders and some narrow paths. We plan to cross over to the Whirlpool Pool spot, conditions permitting, at this place the river takes a 90 degree turn and creates a rare natural wonder, hiking distance 7-10 km.
    The lunch break will on a large rock platform overlooking the river, the view all along are just stunning.
    Hiking shoes, poles, head cap are strongly recommended, dress according to weather.

    This is first of the series of hikes along the Niagara River. Next two hikes we will cross into US and hike on US side of Niagara River (Goat Island and Niagara Gorge). Details will follow on the calendar.

    Terrain: Moderate – some hills and/or some poor footing, Strenuous – hilly with steep climbs and some poor footing
    Distance: From km 92.9 to 82.1 plus short side trail, total 11.3 km.

    Description

    From Inglis Falls Conservation Area, this hike will take us up the east side of Owen Sound through the Palisades, a climb up the Centennial Tower to view the city, through a forest, a meadow, past a beaver pond, the edge of the golf course and, more crevices. A shorter distance with lots to see.
