    Location (Google Maps): Park on the shoulder at the north end of Maple Lane, km 67.3 Map 24, Edition 30.

    Description

    Hike along the top of Blue Mountain with lovely views to Georgian Bay, we then follow the Mission Road side trail with a small amount of road walking to return via mixed forest to the top of Blue Mountain.

    1. Each hiker joining a Bruce Trail Club organized hike must perform a self-screening check before hiking.

    3. Personal Protective Equipment:
      • Hikers may choose to wear masks

    Transportation

    It is the Bruce Trail Conservancy’s current policy that car shuttles are allowed.  It is at the discrepancy of individual hike leaders to make that decision.

    Other Guidelines

    1. Arrive 15 minutes before the start of the hike.
    2. Wear sturdy footwear and appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain.
      Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate.
      Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
    3. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
    4. Bring sufficient water and snacks (or lunch if indicated). A minimum of 1L of water is recommended on all hikes, and 3L is recommended for long, challenging hikes in the heat of the summer.
    5. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent (for spring and summer hikes).
    6. Bring your own first aid kit.
    7. Please leave dogs at home.

    Terrain: Moderate, Some rocky footing, Some steep sections, Strenuous
    Length of Hike: 17.2 km – approx. 5 hours depending on conditions and speed of the group

    Description

    Welcome to the Saturday Seekers, as we’re calling this series of hikes, since the goal is to earn the BV Green Apple End to End badge!  All hikes in this series will include a car shuttle, masks must be worn in cars, and please be prepared to take a turn as a shuttle driver.  Trails may be wet at this time of year so it’s a good idea to have gaiters handy.  Experience with hiking about 20 km in a day at a medium pace is essential.  There will be a short snack break in the morning and afternoon, as well as a longer lunch break.  Ensure that you have sufficient water. Please read the hiking guidelines below.

    On today’s hike we continue along the escarpment, then pass through fields to a wetland and on to Sideroad 22B and includes about 1.25 km of road walking.

    Beaver Valley West Loop

    Location (Google Maps): Meet in the lower parking lot of Beaver Valley Ski Club, near the Valley Crossover side Trail. Map 26, Edition 30. Access from Grey Road 30 south of Kimberley.

    Length of Hike: 9 km

    Description

    This is a loop hike which heads west on the Valley Crossover Side Trail from the Beaver Valley Ski Club, south to walk down Graham’s Hill Road then back north on Lower Valley Rd to the parking lot.  A good workout with some walking on forest sided rural roads.

    Duncan Crevice to Metcalfe Crevice Loop

    Description

    This is a loop hike that will follow the white blazed trail to the Metcalfe Crevice where you will have the choice of exploring the rocky gorge or taking a short rest. Once we are all back together we will continue on to the Chuck Grant side trail. This trail will loop us back to our cars.   Please bring snacks and water.
