    Description

    2022 Falling Water Trail Badge Event

    New time of year! Saturday, June 4, 2022.

    Come and test your mettle! This is a 30.5 km hike that traverses the beautiful, rugged upper Beaver Valley. It’s a challenging hike during which you’ll experience all that spring has to offer, including cascading creeks and waterfalls.

    Registrants should have experience with hiking long distances over strenuous terrain. Registration will be through the Bruce Trail Conservancy Online Calendar and will open at 7:00 a.m. on March 1, 2022. The $25.00 registration fee covers the cost of the online registration fee, check point refreshments and the badge.

    Description

    Mature forest, a lookout point, and exploring the Standing Rock & Caves Side Trail will be part of this outing.

    Please bring a snack and water.

      Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate.
      Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
    3. Always carry I.D. and your health card.

    Description

    This is a loop hike that takes us along both sides of the escarpment, with great views.  Be prepared for one quite long climb on a road and some rocky footing.

    Length of Hike: 21.8 km – approx. 5 hours depending on conditions and speed of the group

    Welcome to the Saturday Seekers, as we’re calling this series of hikes, since the goal is to earn the BV Green Apple End to End badge!  All hikes in this series will include a car shuttle, masks must be worn in cars, and please be prepared to take a turn as a shuttle driver.  Trails may be wet at this time of year so it’s a good idea to have gaiters handy.  Experience with hiking about 20 km in a day at a medium pace is essential.  There will be a short snack break in the morning and afternoon, as well as a longer lunch break.  Ensure that you have sufficient water. Please read the hiking guidelines below.

    Today’s hike takes us down and into Kimberley village, then up to Old Baldy, as we make our way along the east side of the escarpment to beautiful Eugenia Falls and includes about 3.5 km of road walking.

    Description

    This will be an in and out hike on fairly easy terrain, during which we’ll experience the splendid view from the John Muir Lookout, an established beaver pond, some field walking with views and a variety of woodlands.

    Description

    A beautiful walk north from the meeting point through mature mixed forest to the Standing Rock and Caves. We will climb up through the rock crevices and return on the main trail.
