    Length of Hike: Approx. 10 km return

    Description

    This is an in and out hike which takes us along the top of the ski resorts starting from Maple Lane, up and down a few steep climbs to Loree Forest, where we’ll turn around and retrace our steps back to Maple Lane.  Depending on trail conditions we may shorten the hike.  Join us for great views of Georgian Bay, with some easy walking and some cardio building climbs.  Bring icers and snowshoes and we’ll decide whether we need them on the day.

    COVID-19 Precautions Before, During and After your Hike

    1. Each hiker joining a Bruce Trail Club organized hike must perform a self-screening check before hiking.

    2. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, stay home.
    3. Personal Protective Equipment:
      • Hikers may choose to wear masks
      • Hikers may carry and use hand sanitizer, but should not be sharing it with the group

    Transportation

    All hikers are responsible for their own transportation to and from the hike.

    Currently, there are no car shuttles on hikes – all hikes must be out-and-back or loop hikes.

    Other Guidelines

    1. Arrive 15 minutes before the start of the hike.
    2. Wear sturdy footwear and appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain.
      Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate.
      Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
    3. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
    4. Bring sufficient water and snacks (or lunch if indicated). A minimum of 1L of water is recommended on all hikes, and 3L is recommended for long, challenging hikes in the heat of the summer.
    5. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent (for spring and summer hikes).
    6. Bring your own first aid kit.
    7. Please leave dogs at home.

    Description

    This is an in and out hike taking us to the Margaret Paull Side Trail loop, then back to our cars.  Bring icers and snowshoes and we’ll decide if we need them on the day.

    Description

    We will hike the Chuck Grant loop which takes us into the Duncan Provincial Nature Reserve, with views of a lovely double waterfall and Pinnacle Rock.  Be prepared for possible muddy conditions.

    Length of Hike: 4 hours

    Description

    This is a hike-with-a-view…actually, many views! Southbound, from Fox Ridge Road, to Old Baldy Lookout and back. About 12 kms in total, along the top of the Niagara Escarpment on the Bruce Trail, overlooking the Beaver Valley. Moderate, with some difficulty, due to the distance, and some rocky, uneven footing. Most likely muddy. Approximate time: 3.5 – 4 hours; this includes break-times. Poles are recommended. Bring water and snack for on-trail, and a chair and lunch for “Trail-gating Time” at the end! See BT Guide Map 25, km 39.3. (This hike is being “blended” with your leader’s weekly group hike from thehealthyhiker.ca.)

    This is an in and out hike which will encompass a recent land acquisition reroute, a lovely walk through forest with a view.  Be prepared for muddy conditions.
