    Kolapore East

    Location (Google Maps): Meet in the Kolapore skier’s parking area on Grey Rd. 2, located 650 km south of km 23.8 Edition 30

    Terrain: Moderate
    Length of Hike: Approx. 10 km return

    Description

    This is an out and back hike during which we walk on traces of the Old Mail Road which was in use from the 1830’s to 1850’s.  We will encounter fields and forests along the way.

    1. Each hiker joining a Bruce Trail Club organized hike must perform a self-screening check before hiking.

    2. If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, stay home.
    3. Follow the guidelines for safe & responsible hiking
    4. Personal Protective Equipment:
      • Hikers may choose to wear masks
      • Hikers may carry and use hand sanitizer, but should not be sharing it with the group
    5. Hikers who experience COVID-19 symptoms following a Bruce Trail Club organized hike must inform their local public health unit.

    Transportation

    All hikers are responsible for their own transportation to and from the hike.

    Currently, there are no car shuttles on hikes – all hikes must be out-and-back or loop hikes. No buses are provided at this time.

    Other Guidelines

    1. Arrive 15 minutes before the start of the hike.
    2. Wear sturdy footwear and appropriate attire for the weather and the terrain.
      Hiking poles are a good idea in any season, especially if the terrain is rocky or slippery. In winter, snowshoes or icers/crampons are needed when conditions dictate.
      Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear prevents injuries and shows consideration for a safe and positive group hiking experience.
    3. Always carry I.D. and your health card.
    4. Bring sufficient water and snacks (or lunch if indicated). A minimum of 1L of water is recommended on all hikes, and 3L is recommended for long, challenging hikes in the heat of the summer.
    5. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent (for spring and summer hikes).
    6. Bring your own first aid kit.
    7. Please leave dogs at home.

    Spllt Rock Narrows plus

    Location (Google Maps): Split Rock Narrows parking lot. From Hwy 10, turn east on 25 Sideroad then north on 2nd line EHS.

    Pace: Medium – 3 to 4 km/hour
    Terrain: Easy – mostly flat and usually good footing
    Distance: 11 km

    Description

    Since Mono Cliffs is likely to be very busy on this long weekend, we will start and end our hike outside the boundaries of the provincial park. There is a variety of terrain and viewpoints. Lunch at McCarston’s Lake.

    Description

    This is an out and back hike which takes us along the east side of the valley to the beautiful views from Old Baldy and back.

    West Side Of The Valley

    This is and in and out hike which follows the top of the west side of the valley through a lovely deciduous forest with beautiful views across the valley.
